The World Cup kicked off with a bang! I'm back for the Spain v South Africa match tomorrow. There's some incredible individual stories behind the South African team so I'm looking forward to seeing how they get on.

    See you then!

France have looked good in this game, but the next game is where they need to keep their composure. However, they are a top quality side and they deserve to go far in their own World Cup.

Germany v China is probably the pick of the games on Saturday.

Germany have gone under the radar a little bit and not been as stunning in terms of form and results as previous years so it will be good to see what their level is.

Feast your eyes on these. Four goals, two headers and a peach of a curler.

Former US goalkeeper and World Cup winner

[On a potential France v US tie in the knockout stages] "It could be the game of the century and I hope both sides get through their groups and meet back here. They are two great attacking teams with defenders who can score goals."

  7. 'They have danger everywhere'published at 22:12 British Summer Time 7 June 2019

    France 4-0 South Korea

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was deserved. France controlled the game and they have danger everywhere. The full-backs, the centre-backs, the wingers were devastating in the first-half and then they bring on Valerie Gauvin - she looked something special as well.

This is a team who will be in the running to win this tournament - no doubt about it.

  8. A Katy Perry hat-trickpublished at 22:11 British Summer Time 7 June 2019

And I can confirm that they're playing Katy Perry AGAIN. There's her hat-trick.

  9. Some of the best statspublished at 22:09 British Summer Time 7 June 2019

    France 4-0 South Korea

This was the biggest win by a host nation in their opening game of a FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament since China PR defeated Norway 0-4 in 1991.

South Korea have lost six matches at the tournament, half of which have come against France (3).

Eugenie Le Sommer’s goal was her 75th for France. The only female with more is Marinette Pichon (81 goals).

  10. 'Adults v children'published at 22:08 British Summer Time 7 June 2019

    France 4-0 South Korea

    Dion Dublin
Ex-Aston Villa striker on BBC One

France were very confident and they knew exactly what they had to do at home. They made South Korea look very weak. It looked like an adults v children game.

  11. Laps of honourpublished at 22:05 British Summer Time 7 June 2019

    FT: France 4-0 South Korea

    Tom Garry
BBC Sport at Le Parc des Princes

Both sets of players have set off on laps of honour. The South Korea fans behind one goal are waving their scarves in the air too. They've clearly enjoyed the spectacle regardless.

At the other end, the French squad are all bouncing, dancing and applauding their overjoyed fans.

  12. 'You didn't see much of Cho So-hyun'published at 22:04 British Summer Time 7 June 2019

    France 4-0 South Korea

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

You didn't see much of Cho So-hyun she was closed down and she was up against the best player on the park in Amandine Henry.

South Korea will not get that all the time though. When the space opened up and they brought players on they did better. Lee Mi-na is a player and the coach will understand they need to get hold of the ball more.

  13. 'A wonderful, wonderful goal'published at 22:02 British Summer Time 7 June 2019

    France 4-0 South Korea

Amandine Henry rounds off a night to remember for France as she curls in a beauty of a fourth goal for the hosts.

  14. 'Stopping France is a really difficult task'published at 22:01 British Summer Time 7 June 2019

    France 4-0 South Korea

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Stopping France is a really difficult task so what you have to look at is where they are vulnerable.

Down the middle Wendie Renard is not renowned as the fastest player and they do have spells where they switch-off.

South Korea pressed higher in the second-half but they were too far off the French in the first-half and France showed how dominant and stunning they can be when you give them the ball.

  15. 'French are all smiles'published at 22:00 British Summer Time 7 June 2019

    FT: France 4-0 South Korea

    Tom Garry
BBC Sport at Le Parc des Princes

The flags are waving, the hooters are sounding and the French players are all smiles.

They could not have wished for a better start to their home tournament.

Ross Quinn: Well done to France. Unfortunate for Korea to come up against a team like this on form. Refereeing horrific for the second half though. A ghost offside and some interesting decisions but topped off by a brilliant Henry goal.

Exactly what the fans wanted. You can hear how loud the fans are cheering and it is only going to pick up speed.

Everything about them was impressive and they finally played as a team. We always talk about them being brilliant individually but today it was a team effort.

I think it has been a fantastic French performance even though they have not been pressured too much. Going forward they have been excellent.
