  2. Le Sommer chasing recordspublished at 72 mins

    Nigeria 0-0 France

Eugenie Le Sommer will surpass Marie-Laure Delie as France's all-time top goalscorer at the Women's World Cup if she nets today.

She is currently level with Delie on five goals, having scored two in this tournament - the opening goal against South Korea and the winning penalty against Norway.

The forward has scored 12 goals in her last 12 international appearances for France and is now five goals behind the country's all-time leading scorer in all competitions [Marinett Pichon, 81 goals].

This is better! The French get the ball down and play with some nice flicks and smart one-touch passing down the right.

A dangerous ball is cleared by Nigeria but the French come back again on the left and win a corner.

The resulting set-piece is headed over the bar from Wendie Renard but she's penalised for a foul anyway.

It's getting a little frantic now. France are having more shots from distance - trying to get anything from it - while Nigeria are just hooking it clear.

There's very little action in midfield.

Nigeria have just not shown that bit of quality in front of goal but everything else has been spot on.

She gets a foot to it but just couldn't direct it in goal. If there is one person who deserves a goal tonight it is Thiney.

Great run from Thiney, she just couldn't get enough on it. But that is the sort of thing France need to be doing.

    Oh, so close!!!

Amandine Henry sets Kadidiatou Diani free on the right and she whips it across for Gaetane Thiney, who was sliding into to try and poke it past the keeper.

She gets a toe to it but not enough and it bounces harmlessly wide.

Nigeria's heatmap shows how much they have been forced to camp in their own half. They are doing well though.

This will be a brilliant result for them if it stays a draw.

Amel Majri has just hit the first shot on target in the 65th minute! It's a powerful one too - hit from long-range. But it's straight at the keeper and a comfortable save.

Chris Towers: Well I don't think that was exactly a tap-in for Thiney. Should have hit the target, yes, but she still had the keeper to beat

That was a relatively easy finish for a player of her quality. She knew she had the space and that is a waste of an opportunity. The fans can't believe it.

Delphine Cascarino makes a run off the shoulder of the defender and Wendie Renard picks her out.

The forward cuts it back and finds Gaetane Thiney. She hits it first time but completely miscues it and it curls way wide.

The groans from the French supporters are growing louder...

The French win a corner and the home supporters give a big roar of encouragement. They really want a goal...

It comes out to Wendie Renard on the edge of the box but it's too far out for her to threaten and her header bounces wide of the keeper's left post.

Should have put that in the back of the net.

When the ball lands at the feet of the French players in the box they are rushing a bit.
