But again, France play it short and don't beat the first player. Why are they not just punting it in towards Wendie Renard?

    Strange.

Just as I write that... Viviane Asseyi drives down the left, cuts inside and deceives Asisat Oshoala, who brings her down with a hanging foot.

Free-kick outside the area on the left. Wendie Renard is ready and waiting.

It's just got a bit scrappy this game. Neither team are able to keep hold of the ball for too long. Nigeria are pretty well organised at the back and France are becoming frustrated.

These last five minutes have become quite frantic with France going forward. Before they were keeping possession of the ball and at the moment they just want to get forward. Maybe that is a little frustration that half an hour in they have not scored a goal.

Rita Chikwelu has to come across and slide to block Viviane Asseyi's cross from the right after good work from Delphine Cascarino.

The corner is dealt with comfortably and Nigeria break with numbers down the left but Chidinma Okeze's cross is a really, really poor one.

Desire Oparanozie had managed to lose her marker in the centre too!

A lot of the work Nigeria are doing at the moment is off the ball and that is so energy sapping. They need to make sure they are more direct going forward when they do get the ball.

France are dominating possession but struggling to create any clear-cut chances so far. That volley from Amandine Henry earlier on is probably the closest they have come.

Oosh! Ngozi Ebere comes crashing straight into Delphine Cascarino and goes into the book. The resulting free-kick is whizzed into the box but Amandine Henry nods wide from a few yards out!

Gaetane Thiney dances into the box before it's nicked away by Onome Ebi. France retain possession and Charlotte Bilbault sees the run of Valerie Gauvin.

The midfielder carefully lifts it over the top but it's got just too much pace on it for Gauvin to reach.

Nigeria pack the area with bodies as Ngozi Ebere stands over a free-kick in the right corner. She takes her time in the run up but picks up pace before curling it towards goal.

There's nobody there to put pressure on it and it's an easy take for the experienced Lyon keeper Sarah Bouhaddi.

Wendie Renard plays a lovely diagonal ball over to Delphine Cascarino, whose touch is perfect.

It breaks down when she cuts in from the right and Asisat Oshoala looks to break for Nigeria. She uses her pace to run at Griedge Mbock Bathy but the French defender just shrugs her off the ball and wins a goalkick. Disappointing...

France do better when they do not rush it. They are better when their passes are a bit more measured.

Nigeria are really trying to keep their formation well and get bodies behind the ball. However, they have now given two free-kicks away in dangerous areas and they really need to be aware of that.

France are firing balls into the box. This time Osinachi Ohale nods it out for a corner to deny Amel Majri an effort.

The resulting set-piece is fizzed in towards the back post, where Amandine Henry is lurking. She smashes it first time and connects well but it's always flying wide.

What a fantastic ball in. It had great curve in but she just couldn't quite direct it on target.

At the moment Nigeria are matching the athleticism of this French team. That is definitely required if they are to get anything out of this game.

Francisca Ordega shoulder barges Amel Majri and France have a free-kick on the left touchline.

It's passed across the middle before it's delivered into the centre but Valerie Gauvin heads over.

She did the right thing keeping the shot down. She just couldn't get the accuracy. Worth the effort.

Delphine Cascarino uses her pace to get in behind Ngozi Ebere on the right and hits it against the full-back to win a corner.

The set-piece comes all the way through to Amandine Henry on the far side of the box and she lays it off to Viviane Asseyi on the edge. Asseyi drags her shot wide of the keeper's left post though.
