I am guessing there must be one Chelsea supporters coach that has yet to arrive at the ground. There is hardly an empty red seat inside Anfield, apart from a noticeable area close to the touchline in the Anfield Road End.

These Liverpool players haven’t been scarred by what happened five years ago, only Jordan Henderson was involved in that game in the starting XI today. This is a new adventure; they have a great chance of winning the Premier League.

But the chance to put that all behind them, what a boost that would be for the fans. This is what they consider the big hurdle today. If they get through it I think they will go on and win the league. The games they have got I can’t see them dropping any more points.

It is hard for the players to ignore the hype surrounding Liverpool’s long wait for a title, but the overwhelming majority of them won’t let the weight of expectation affect them.

It’s a new adventure. Jurgen Klopp is a guy who has won titles before so when he sends out a message the vast majority of the squad will believe him. There isn’t too much mental baggage for this current set of Liverpool players.

On Steven Gerrard’s slip in 2014: I’d be amazed if anyone in the Liverpool squad has mentioned it, why focus on the negatives? I’d be surprised if quite a lot of the players have even seen that clip.

They just need to do their job and beat Chelsea this afternoon. It’s a lot to deal with just going on the pitch let alone dealing with happened five years ago.

There is quite a relaxed atmosphere inside Anfield ahead of kick-off. The Liverpool fans who stayed on the concourses to watch the Crystal Palace v Manchester City game were watching with hope, rather than expectation. They are now drifting to their seats as George Sephton plays a calming selection of tunes over the PA system. Having said all that, the atmosphere will start to change in around 10 minutes from now.

Chelsea's away form has been their undoing this season, especially at the turn of the year when they lost on three successive trips, which put Maurizio Sarri on the brink of being sacked, according to some reports.

That form has improved since, and having already beaten Liverpool at Anfield in the Carabao Cup this season via an Eden Hazard winner, they will hope to stop a run of five league away defeats by top six opposition.

Chelsea haven't lost at Anfield since 2012, a run which includes that famous game five years ago.
