Pep Guardiola will be really edgy about this second half.

His side dominated but only scored once in that first half. Spurs had chances. Kevin de Bruyne is off injured. And then there are still those thoughts about Wednesday night.

Smart touch and driving run from Lucas Moura as he gets his head down and sprints at the Manchester City defence, but the ball wriggles through to Son Heung-min in an offside position.

Bernardo Silva was sublime in that first half.

He's playing out on Manchester City's right and has caused Spurs all sorts of problems when cutting inside.

The PFA Player of the Year nominee set up the opener with a wonderful ball to the back post for Sergio Aguero, who headed back across goal to give Phil Foden an easy finish.

Here's Silva's touch map so far above.

Robert McKie: Bernardo Silva has Ben Davies on toast. No wonder Sane can't get in the team

Rachel T: Why do people always talk about Spurs players with a price tag, as if they want to leave? Why not chat about the City players that Poch might have his eye on?

Shane Daly: So a player beats a few defenders & all of a sudden he's worth a £100 million? Isn't that what all players should be doing anyway?

    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

Phil Foden is the first player born in the 2000s to score a Premier League goal for Man City, and is their third youngest scorer in the competition overall (18y 327d) after Micah Richards and Daniel Sturridge.

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Etihad Stadium

Manchester City have the lead but Spurs have had the better chances.

Heung-Min Son has picked up where he left off on Wednesday but Ederson has come to Manchester City's rescue in goal.

Finely balanced but it's advantage City.

The City fans stood up and clapped Kevin de Bruyne as he went off but they would also have been thinking, "Oh, please, no."

    Let's hope it's nothing serious.

    That's the break.

Manchester City might feel they could be further ahead after all that pressure, but they'll also be relieved Tottenham have failed to take their chances.

Phil Foden's early goal the difference.

Magnificent from Son Heung-min, who breaks free just inside his own half and manages to fend off a swarm of chasing City defenders before cutting in on his left.

But it was a weak effort after a superb run and Ederson collects comfortably.

Manchester City's pressure has eased since Kevin De Bruyne has made way.

Not quite the same intensity in the past few minutes from Pep Guardiola's side.

    Better from Tottenham.

The visitors break quickly to work it left to Ben Davies and then find space on the right with Juan Foyth, he whips a low cross towards Lucas Moura but Ederson is out quickly to smother.

I hadn't seen Kevin de Bruyne struggling at all but he must have let Pep Guardiola know that he was as Fernandinho was already being readied.

"No, not again," was written all over his face as he whacked that out of play.
