  1. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:14 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2019

    Derby 0-0 Stoke

Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland is earning his corn tonight, goodness me.

First of all the shot is rapped at him from distance and parried, then Duane Holmes strikes the frame of the goal and the rebound from Harry Wilson also denied.

He is doing the legacy of Gordon Banks proud tonight, like a one-man barrier. A Potteries brick wall against this Ram-raid.

  2. Postpublished at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2019

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Preston

How did Middlesbrough's Jonny Howson miss there?! He was on his own at the back post as the ball came to him, and headed toward goal - neck muscles straining... Wide.

Deflected according to the referee, corner comes to nothing.

It’s a somewhat muted atmosphere at The Hawthorns as West Bromwich Albion get under way in their first game since Saturday night’s shock sacking of head coach Darren Moore.

Apart from the usual pre-match vocal tribute to local rivals Wolves (to the tune of The Liquidator), and the usual choral drum-banging band at the back of the Smethwick End, round the rest of the ground, there is a rather solemn air about proceedings.

Certainly not funeral, but quiet and reflective, as the home fans await to see if caretaker boss Jimmy Shan’s four changes will have any effect against a Swansea City side with one eye on Manchester City in this weekend’s FA Cup quarter final.

Connor Roberts’ early left-foot curler against Sam Johnstone’s right post will have done nothing to allay the home fans’ concerns.

    Norwich 2-0 Hull

A slight mix-up at the back from Norwich but they get away with it.

Keeper Tim Krul comes out to claim the ball and almost makes a mess, but the ball is bundled clear.

Straight down the other end and Emiliano Buendia almost buried this game with a fierce 20-yard shot, but Hull's David Marshall did brilliantly to tip it wide for a corner.

    Birmingham 0-1 Millwall

Birmingham continue to be in the ascendancy despite going 1-0 down.

Che Adams got onto a through-ball and his shot from a tight angle was well saved by David Martin.

  6. Postpublished at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2019

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Preston

Having looked all over the shop in the opening 10 minutes, Preston have found their feet somewhat at the Riverside with a much more spirited display.

They've not created anything concrete, but they're enjoying some possession now.

The only downside for them is influential midfielder Alan Browne has been forced off and replaced by Joe Rafferty. Earlier challenge from George Friend enough to end his evening prematurely.

West Brom against Swansea started six minutes ago...I think

  8. Postpublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2019

    Derby 0-0 Stoke

Martyn Waghorn does well to rob the visitors on the right and plays a beautiful pass to free Duane Holmes...

The Derby man hares down on goal but Jack Butland beats away his stinging drive, and Harry Wilson was blocked by the scrambling defence as Stoke recover...

Then, at the other end, a quick boot downfield from Butland found Tom Ince who wriggled away from his marker but could only coax the ball wide of the target.

    End-to-end!

  9. goal

GOAL: Birmingham 0-1 Millwallpublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2019

    Ben Thompson (14 mins)

    ThompsonImage source, PA

Classic counter-attack goal from Millwall as Ben Thompson breaks away, exchanges a one-two with Lee Gregory and then finishes the move himself.

The Lions have lost four in a row - this could be a BIG goal at the bottom.

    Derby 0-0 Stoke

Stoke enjoy a bit of pressure on the Derby goal, earning a corner after ex-Rams forward Tom Ince rattles a shot which deflects wide.

Danny Batth wasn't far away from toe-ending it into the Derby goal, but the home side recover.

Decent game this, and both fans in lively mood with a bit of call-and-response chanting.

  11. goal

GOAL: Nottingham Forest 1-2 Aston Villapublished at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2019

    John McGinn (15 mins)

    2-1 VillaImage source, Rex Features

And now it really is 2-1 to Villa and we've had just 15 minutes!

It's John McGinn again for the visitors.

This time it's a real daisy-cutter sliding into the bottom right corner from around 25 yards out after Neil Taylor's initial shot was blocked.

  12. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 20:01 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2019

    Nottingham Forest 1-1 Aston Villa

    Almost 2-1 to Villa!

But, a header at the back post by Anwar El Ghazi from a dangerous free-kick is ruled offside.

A few relieved home fans when they saw that flag up.

  13. goal

GOAL: Norwich 2-0 Hullpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2019

    Emiliano Buendi (14 mins)

    Emi BuendaiImage source, Getty Images

OH MY DAYS! Is this game over already?!

Norwich are swarming all over Hull and it is absolute panic stations at the back. Various games of pinball later and Emiliano Buendia pokes the ball into the net.

    WOW.

  14. Postpublished at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2019

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Preston

Jon Obi Mikel just smacked the post with a shot, the closest the home side have come while laying siege to the Preston goal. Somehow the ball is cleared.

Under the pump would be the best way of putting it.

  15. goal

GOAL: Norwich 1-0 Hullpublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2019

    Marco Stiepermann (10 mins)

    StiepermannImage source, Getty Images

Hull have started the better, but then Norwich winger Marco Stiepermann dances down the left and makes his way into the box without a defender putting as much as a glove on him.

He ends up about 10 yards out and lashes home.

Great play, but Sunday League defending!

  16. Postpublished at 19:56 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2019

    Derby 0-0 Stoke

Tom Huddlestone brings the best out of Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland with a snap-shot after a bludgeoning run from Tom Lawrence... would have been his first had it gone in.

The Rams look sharp with Lawrence back in, his driving runs and quick feet might cause a few problems.

Then, a looping header from Scott Malone sails wide, after a swift Rams break. Danger for Stoke.

  17. YELLOW CARDpublished at 19:56 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2019

    Birmingham 0-0 Millwall

Lively start from Birmingham, with a few promising openings and a big appeal for a penalty...

Che Adams played Isaac Vassell in and he went down looking for the decision, only to be booked for simulation.

  18. goal

GOAL: Nottingham Forest 1-1 Aston Villapublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2019

    John McGinn (7 mins)

    McGinnImage source, Rex Features

    I mean, come on now!

I was joking when I said another 5-5 on the cards, but here we are already at 1-1 as John McGinn fires Villa level with their first real attack.

Ahmed Elmohamady threads him into space down the right before McGinn cuts inside into Forest's box and then slots the ball home past Costel Pantillimon.

  19. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2019

    Norwich 0-0 Hull

SO CLOSE to Hull top scorer Jarrod Bowen breaking the deadlock early on. A lovely left-footed free kick from 25 yards, but it bounces off the frame of the goal and away.

    Lucky, lucky Norwich.

  20. Postpublished at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2019

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Preston

Middlesbrough threatening - Jonny Howson bringing a fine save out of Declan Rudd, fizzing a shot toward goal which is beaten away and wide of the Preston goal.

Preston by the way are playing in green shirts with yellow shorts... ridiculous. What's up with white? Doesn't clash with Middlesbrough's red.

    Against modern football etc etc.
