Newcastle haven't done anything in the 10 minutes since the goal. Salomon Rondon looks pretty lonely up front.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has moved forward with Mohamed Salah staying behind him. Mavericks.

That won't last long, you'd imagine. Nope, Salah has gone forward again.

Bert: So it's gonna be one of those LivNew games , going to be a long nervy night......

James: What's happened to the organised Newcastle under Benitez? Normally so reliable defensively but Liverpool are carving them open at ease! Game over already.

A few people are asking why Trent Alexander-Arnold wasn't sent off for his handball.

Fifa's laws say a red card in that instance is not a punishment for the handball itself, but because it would prevent a goal being scored. Since Newcastle scored the rebound, they weren't denied a goal.

Liverpool are looking comfortable at the moment after weathering that Toon storm and retaking the lead. Daniel Sturridge has a crack from outside the box but his shot is just over.

That was a really good chance but a really good save, doesn't matter what you stop it with.

I just get the feeling that every time Liverpool come forward there is lots of space for them to run into.

Liverpool almost in for a third. Sadio Mane finds Mohamed Salah, who feeds the ball back into his team-mate. He's one on one with Martin Dubravka but the Newcastle keeper saves his effort and Ki Sung-yueng clears.

Rafael Benitez turned to his backroom staff with arms outstretched in fury as Salah's volley hit the back of the net - he simply cannot believe that Newcastle's defence left the Egyptian unmarked in the area.

Good finish but terrible marking for the second time by Newcastle.

The cross was just an invitation for Salah, absolutely brilliant, curling right into Salah's path. His touch was very, very delicate but very, very good.

Newcastle are looking like Barcelona all of a sudden. A cross comes into the box which Dejan Lovren heads out to Ayoze Perez.

The Spaniard flicks the ball up and then rattles a powerful volley off the crossbar. Alisson was beaten.

The game has changed because Newcastle have changed, they are actually having a go. It's all about Rondon, he flicks the ball on or holds it up and it is up to the midfielders to get up there with him.

Ash Williams: Newcastle equaliser stems from a poor backpass from Lovren. Not a surprise he’s involved.

Greg Morter: What a topsy turvy game at St James's Park and only 20 minutes played.

Edward Taylor: How lucky are Liverpool there? Trent Alexander-Arnold should have been sent off. It doesn't matter if Newcastle scored on the rebound, he still blocked a goal bound shot with his hand.

Nicholas: Alexander Arnold is one lucky guy.

    Scenes.

Newcastle are level. Javier Manquillo crosses the ball, but it's over Trent Alexander-Arnold and Salomon Rondon. It reaches Matt Ritchie, whose shot is wayward and reaches Rondon.

The striker has a shot cleared off the line by Alexander-Arnold's elbow. And Christian Atsu is there to slam home the rebound.
