    Charlton 0-1 Sunderland

Charlton win another corner after good centre forward play from Lyle Taylor.

Josh Cullen's initial outswinger is well dealt with before the ball is eventually played back into the area and Taylor smashes a bouncing ball over the bar from 16 yards.

The shot certainly wasn't lacking for power.

    Charlton 0-1 Sunderland

Charlton win a corner after Lyle Taylor goes for a run down their right.

Josh Cullen sends a delivery into the area but Patrick Bauer's header drifts well wide.

The Addicks try to work a training ground routine from the set piece but the flag is up for offside.

Lee Bowyer's side are coming back into it now though.

Charlton keeper Dillon Phillips is receiving jeers from the Sunderland fans when he gets the ball at his feet following that early error.

He and Naby Sarr will have to share the blame for the goal. Addicks fans are trying to rouse their team, but on the sidelines manager Lee Bowyer seems stunned by that early set-back.

    Charlton 0-1 Sunderland

Charlton, perhaps not entirely surprisingly, still look rattled after that early goal.

It must be one of the most remarkable goals ever scored in a play-off final, as Naby Sarr passed the ball back to goalkeeper Dillon Phillips only to watch in horror as the ball went past the keeepr's foot and into the net.

They've got to regain their composure.

  7. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Charlton 0-1 Sunderland

Sunderland are going with just Charlie Wyke on his own up front but they're not being shy of trying to find him in the area.

They've probably sent five or six crosses into the Addicks box looking for the big striker already.

The latest one is cleared as far as Grant Leadbitter and his low shot is well saved by Dillon Phillips.

Nick Bruzon: My word. There’s the pressure of the play-offs and then there’s that. Next level horror for Charlton

Bresla Stephenson: That's heartbreaking if you are a Charlton fan but for the neutral it's pure drama.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 8 mins

    Charlton 0-1 Sunderland

Charlton had probably settled the quicker of the two teams before that horrendous moment for Naby Sarr and Dillon Phillips.

The goal has really given Sunderland the momentum now and they're swarming all over the Addicks.

However, Max Power is going to have to come off for the Black Cats, Lewis Morgan comes on in his place.

    Oh my word!

Charlton defender Naby Sarr passes the ball back to goalkeeper Dillon Phillips who, under no pressure, sees the ball go under his foot and into the net.

Sarr wasn't even looking at Phillips when he made the pass.

A nightmare start for the Addicks.

Charlton midfielder Jonny Williams spent last season on loan at Sunderland.

The Wales international endured a tough time on Wearside as injuries hampered his playing time and the Netflix documentary 'Sunderland til I die' showed him opening up about personal issues.

He's been a regular feature in the Addicks team in the second half of this season but will have to have an impact off the bench today.

Olympic Way was teeming with fans two hours before kick-off as I made my way to the ground, with Charlton fans back at Wembley for the first time since their victory here in 1998.

Sunderland supporters have not had much joy from their recent trips to the national stadium, having not seeing their side win here in their past six trips.

But the attendance will be a bumper one, and could come close to the record for a third-tier final set by Gillingham and Manchester City in 1999.

Black Cats followers will be boosted by the presence of Aiden McGeady on the bench - the Irishman missed both legs of the semi-final against Portsmouth and could provide a spark of magic if called upon.
