    LIFELINE FOR DERBY!

Jack Marriott is the coolest man in Wembley to steer Derby within a goal of parity in a key, key game.

It came from a ball over the top to release Martyn Waghorn, but a crucial touch from Tyrone Mings steered the ball away.

Florian Jozefzoon's cross was nodded back in by Jayden Bogle, and Marriott rolled it beautifully into the far corner.

    Bedlam for the Rams.

Frank Lampard pacing, wishing no doubt he could make one of those late runs into the box he made his trademark.

His side made ground down the left, Florian Jozefzoon takes the ball to the byline but Villa deal with it, Ahmed Elmohamady makes the tackle and concedes the corner.

I think the only chance we've got is if Villa switch off.

But we've only had one shot on target all game and that's the disappointing thing.

    It's last-chance saloon.

All or nothing time for Derby and Frank Lampard. Try telling the Villa fans that the second goal hasn’t wrapped things up. They are making a tremendous racket.

Whatever way you look at that second goal, from all the angles, it’s simply terrible goalkeeping. Jack Marriott and Martyn Waghorn are on and the game is going to open up now. Derby will not die wondering.

Tony Swanson: Fantastic to see John score the second, great player.

Steven Pascall: Awful goalkeeping from Roos there. Done better in goal myself, even though I was as a right-back in Sunday league.

    Nii: This goalie is useless.

Party time in the Villa end, while it's a glum scene at the other end of the ground.

If Derby have any crumb of hope to cling to, then it's that play-off finals are rarely over until the final whistle.

Think back 20 years ago for starters, when plenty of Manchester City fans left their final with Gillingham, only to find their team had pulled it back late on.

    VILLA TAKE CONTROL!

John McGinn finds himself in the right place, at the right time, to nod the ball in and put Aston Villa 2-0 up at Wembley.

It all came from Anwar El Ghazi's cut infield, his shot looped up and into the six-yard box.

Kelle Roos looked as though it was his to claim in the Derby goal, but McGinn pounced, poached and profited. Nudged in and it's now in Villa's hands.
