Jack Grealish is getting some hellish grief from the Derby fans every time he touches the ball.

Fans only tend to boo the good players. And he’s already looking sharp, finding space and trying to get in behind Derby’s defensive midfield duo Bradley Johnson and Tom Huddlestone, who for all their quality, do lack pace.

    Villa get another chance!

Kelle Roos' pass out is poor, Derby lacking composure and John McGinn swoops before feeding Jack Grealish.

The Villa captain takes a touch and drives toward the box before sweeping a vicious shot wide of the target.

More signs that Villa are up and at it.

First corner goes Villa's way as Anwar El Ghazi's cross is deflected behind... comes in...

BREAKS TO AXEL TUANZEBE?! He airshots it... total miskick and Derby clear.

Rattled... but Villa will be frustrated to have passed up that opportunity. Derby didn't cope with the set-piece at all.

Love the fact Jack Grealish is strolling about the lush green of Wembley's turf with his trademark "socks down" look. Cool and calm.

Villa win a free-kick and the ball is worked wide to Anwar El Ghazi, who runs at Jayden Bogle, who wins the ball at the expense of a throw.

From that throw, Tom Lawrence hammered into Tyrone Mings - another free-kick.

It's the type of game where you don't even need an emotional investment to get that knot in the stomach.

Just an appreciation of how big this game is and the nerves that they bring.

Early stages, plenty to midfield ratting about and scrapping while we await some rhythm to break out.

Ashley Cole does well to hold off John McGinn's burst down the right, winning the free-kick as the Villa man chased the ball down with him.

Not an awful lot of singing among the players at Wembley, they're in the moment.

However, Villa fan Prince William was singing. It's his grandma after all.

Here we go. Ceremony dispensed with. Let's get it on.

Interesting to see the body language as the handshakes with the dignitaries are carried out at Wembley.

Polite, but firm from most players. It's almost glassy-eyed, on with the job of winning.

Derby have two youngsters on the bench who have never made a Rams first-team appearance between them.

Left-back Calum McDonald provides cover for Ashley Cole, while there is also a place for 18-year-old midfielder Jason Knight.

Bit of a laugh and handshake between Dean Smith and Frank Lampard... then, it's business time.

Teams emerge from the tunnel, a cacophony of noise and an assault on the senses.

We're so close now to THE biggest game in domestic football. Certainly, the richest.

  13. 'Derby went up a level at Leeds'published at 14:50 British Summer Time 27 May 2019

Aston Villa v Derby County (15:00 BST)

Former England boss Steve McClaren managed Derby in the 2014 Championship play-off final, which they lost 1-0 to a last-gasp QPR goal.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live: "The team that wins will be the one who handles it the best, playing at Wembley doesn't matter if it's for £170m or whatever. It takes courage and belief.

"These two teams need to win this game because of the financial situation."

As for the man currently in the Pride Park hotseat, McClaren added: "Frank Lampard proved his worth and went up another level as a manager with what he did at Leeds - going away to win there is unbelievable.

"The team went up another level. They just have to produce that again."

There will be some bitter memories for Derby County fans regarding their last visit to Wembley in 2014, when a late, late winner for Queens Park Rangers left the Rams shattered on a searing-hot afternoon.

Bobby Zamora's strike came from an error by Richard Keogh, a moment which would have been a crushing blow to many players.

However, the Rams captain has remained a key fixture at Pride Park, and a major figure in the Rams side which made it to Wembley. What price he gets to lift the cup today and celebrate a spot in the Premier League?

Gary Flower: Best result for a Chelsea fan is a Derby win with Tammy Abraham scoring for Aston Villa. Can't wait.

Mick Taylor: Come on you Rams! Going with 'Super Frankie Lampard' today! (Sorry JT and Tammy!)

Jacob Dyer: As a Chelsea fan, I'd rather Derby win so Lamps can have a crack at the Premier League to show he's got what it takes as a manager as well as a player.

A Derby win seems to be a popular wish among Chelsea fans today...

It’s been a bit lively outside as kick-off approaches. Wembley Way was increasingly noisy and both sets of fans were in good voice trying to outsing each other.

There were a few times where a brief pause in hostilities saw a united front to have a not-so-subtle dig at Leeds.

Frank Lampard had the last laugh over Leeds United, after his Derby side turned around a first-leg deficit to book their Wembley place.

The two foes, whose initial rivalry was spurred by the personal animosity of respective coaches Brian Clough and Don Revie back in the early 1970s, were paired together by their league finishes - and Leeds were 1-0 winners at Pride Park in the first leg.

Lampard was not happy with referee Craig Pawson overturning a penalty in the match, and Leeds fans had created a chant to the Oasis song 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out' in response.

However, it was the Leeds fans 'crying' after the second leg, as Derby won 4-2 thanks to goals from three of Lampard's summer signings. Jack Marriott, Mason Mount and Harry Wilson all scored.

It took a penalty shootout to get Aston Villa through to Wembley for the second season running, as they saw off West Brom in a derby thriller.

Villa won 2-1 in the first leg, with Conor Hourihane and Tammy Abraham scoring, while Dwight Gayle scored and was sent off for the Baggies.

The Baggies levelled things up in the second leg, winning 1-0 with a Craig Dawson goal, and extra-time could not separate them.

Jed Steer had saved from Mason Holgate and Ahmed Hegazi for Villa, and Abraham slotted in the decisive spot-kick to lead Dean Smith's side to the final.
