  6. McGregor denied by shaky Pardopublished at 21:10 British Summer Time 8 June 2019

    Scotland 1-0 Cyprus

Scotland almost double their lead through Callum McGregor as his rasping drive is dealt unconvincingly by Cyprus keeper Pardo, who spills the shot for a corner, like a Saturday night reveller trying to avoid a pickle tumbling from his fish supper.

Suddenly, Scotland look menacing at every turn...

Andy Robertson got a round of applause from the rest of the squad when arrived after winning the Champions League and I hope he gets another one for that. It's an absolute screamer. We needed someone to step up and he has certainly done that.

    Lovely finish.

Marco Reus ghosts into the box and fires home after being found in space by Matthias Ginter.

  9. goal

GOAL Scotland 1-0 Cypruspublished at 61 mins

    Andy Robertson

Cometh the hour, cometh the man. With frustration building in the Hampden stands, Scotland captain Andy Robertson says: "I've had enough of this!"

The left-back fires a howitzer beyond the despairing dive of the flying Pardo into the top corner of the net.

The national stadium comes alive - we have the first goal of the Steve Clarke era, and it's a screamer!

Robertson's third goal for his country, and it couldn't have arrived at a better time.

Iain B McGregor: Let's be honest here: Scotland could appoint Guardiola, Mourinho and any other top manager in the world - it still isn't going to change anything as we don't have the players, ie Russia 9-0 San Marino. That is how to see off a minnow team.

  11. 'Cyprus fans in good voice'published at 21:01

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

    Jane Lewis
    BBC Sport Scotland at Hampden

The small band of Cyprus fans at Hampden are in good voice as their team is enjoying some good possession. In contrast, it’s nervy times for Scotland supporters, as at times the away side show they can be dangerous on the break.

  12. Forrest of legs...published at 56 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

More frustration for the Scots as James Forrest, legs going like pistons into the box, can't get a shot away amid a sea of white Cypriot jerseys.

Steve Clarke's side are struggling to get shots away.

Belgium are on easy street at home to Kazakhstan in Group I.

Dries Mertens has been the main man for Roberto Martinez's side, scoring the opener and setting up the second.

Now, he fires a shot against the face of the far post and Romelu Lukaku taps home the rebound.

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

Further cause for concern for the Scots, as Spoljaric forces David Marshall into a save after slack play by the hosts.

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

A rare Cyprus foray forward is halted by the boot of Scotland defender Charlie Mulgrew, as he gets a crucial block on a dangerous cross by Makris.

Efrem was loitering in the box like a Dickensian pickpocket...

  17. Robertson blazes overpublished at 47 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

Steve Clarke may have lobbed a verbal grenade or two in the Scotland dressing room at half-time. His charges have come out with renewed attacking intent.

Captain Andy Robertson has a sight at goal but his effort is wild and flies high over the bar.. probably in the direction of the Toryglen pitches.

But this is much better from Scotland, a sense of urgency in their play.

  18. Scots on front footpublished at 46 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

No changes for either side to tell you about. Scotland come roaring out of the traps but the killer final ball continues to elude Steve Clarke's side as Cyprus nullify the attack by Callum McGregor.

Down the right, there have been some poor decisions. I don't think Stephen O'Donnell has given James Forrest as many good options as he could of.
