We have to move the ball that bit quicker. When we do lift the pace we look good, particularly on the left, but the final ball has been poor.

N A Burton: Evenly matched first half and good to see Cyprus take the game to Scotland in first 20 minutes. You wouldn't know that this is Steve Clarke's first game in charge. No new manager bounce first half.

  3. 'Scotland want goals...'published at 20:43

    HT: Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

    Jane Lewis
    BBC Sport Scotland at Hampden

Those graduating from the SFA performance schools were given a warm welcome by the Hampden crowd at half time...some hope for the future perhaps?

But it’s to the current crop of internationals the Scotland fans will be looking to in the second half of this Euro 2020 qualifier against Cyprus. They’ll want the good movement to continue, but they’ll also want to see goals...so too will Steve Clarke, I would imagine.

  4. HALF-TIME Belgium 2-0 Kazakhstanpublished at 20:42

Belgium are firmly in control at the top of Group I as they lead by two goals against the side who gave Scotland a bloody nose in their opening game.

The home side could have been ahead by more than just Dries Mertens' deflected shot and Timothy Castangne's header had it not been for a couple of fine saves from Kazakhstan goalkeeper Stas Pokatilov.

  5. 'Almost' moments for goalless Scotlandpublished at 20:40

    HT: Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

    Tom English
BBC Scotland's chief sports writer at Hampden

There was an awful lot of possession for Scotland and a number of 'almost' moments. The home fans will be slightly anxious because there hasn't really been any clear-cut chances.

  6. HALF-TIME Greece 0-3 Italypublished at 20:38

The Azzurri are dominating in Athens with Leonardo Bonucci, Nicolo Barella and Lorenzo Insigne all on the scoresheet.

Barella even spurned a late chance to make it 4-0 having been put clean through one-on-one with the keeper.

Peter Humfrey: At first ever Scotland game. Disappointing. Too much respect given to Cyprus. Scotland need to give up on the aerial ball and focus on cutting in on the wing #bbcsportscot, external

  8. HALF-TIME Turkey 2-0 Francepublished at 20:37

Wow. What a half from Turkey.

They lead the world champions and Group H.

And it could have been three, too, as centre-half Merih Demiral headed wide late on.

  9. HALF-TIME Belarus 0-1 Germanypublished at 20:36

Half-time in Belarus and it's Leroy Sane's goal the difference between the sides at the moment.

The front three of Sane, Serge Gnabry and Marco Reus are, unsurprisingly, causing the hosts plenty of problems.

Germany remain second in Group B, having played a game less than Northern Ireland.

  10. HALF-TIME Scotland 0-0 Cypruspublished at 20:34

Mmmm. Steve Clarke's Scotland have kept a clean sheet but will be disappointed at a blunt attack against modest opponents.

Hope springs eternal for a better second 45 after a half-time slice of orange and some much-needed zest and tactical guidance from the new man at the helm...

  12. Quiet Saturday night...published at 43 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

Two minutes plus any additional time remaining at the end of the first half - referee Ola Hobber Nilsen shouldn't be thinking about any of that - with Hampden largely subdued by a low-key opening 45 minutes.

  13. goal

GOAL Turkey 2-0 Francepublished at 20:30

    Cengiz Under

My word. What is happening in Turkey?

The world champions are in danger of being blown away.

Paul Pogba is dispossessed on the edge of his own area by Dorukhan Tokoz who slides in Cengiz Under and the Roma forward finishes emphatically past Hugo Lloris.

Turkey look like they'll make it three wins from three in Group H.

Alistair Grant: Struggling to watch Scotland v Cyprus. Nothing happening to hold my attention. Surely we can afford to play two strikers. We have two good wide men with a single inexperienced centre forward to aim for. Mr Clarke PLEASE be more adventurous...

  15. Scotland need more menace in final thirdpublished at 20:28

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

There have been some nice interchanges and we're getting into good areas but it's disappointing that we haven't worked the goalkeeper.

  16. GREAT SAVE!published at 39 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

Hang on a minute... Cyprus, baring their attacking for the first time in what seems like an eternity, try to cut through Scotland on the right.

Peiros Sotiriou sends a shot across David Marshall, the Scotland keeper palms it away and Stephen O'Donnell completes the clearance.

  17. goal

GOALS Greece 0-3 Italypublished at 20:26

    Lorenzo Insigne and Leonardo Bonucci

A quickfire double sees Italy double and then treble their lead at the Athens Olympic Stadium.

First, Lorenzo Insigne fires home after receiving a pass from Federico Chiesa.

And then Juventus captain Leonardo Bonucci thumps home a header from Emerson Palmieri's cross.

The Azzurri are cruising. And they lead Group J.

  18. Forrest yet to firepublished at 37 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

A dangerous Scotland attack sees James Forrest teed up at the edge of the area, but his deflected shot fails to seriously trouble Pardo.

  19. Cyprus Will...published at 35 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

Attempting to drag his team in front, Scotland captain Andy Robertson leads by example with an attack down the left flank.

However, the Scots are struggling for fluency in the face of disciplined Cypriot pressing. The result has been precious few efforts on target and even less for either goalkeeper to concern themselves with.

  20. goal

GOAL Turkey 1-0 Francepublished at 20:22

    Kaan Ayhan

Oh hello. Do we have a mini-shock on the cards?

Turkey have more than matched the world champions so far and now they've got their reward.

In comes a deep free-kick and Merih Demiral peels off the back post to head it back across goal where his centre-back partner Kaan Ayhan is there to power home.

As it stands, Turkey leapfrog France into first place in Group H.
