I've been impressed by the triangle of Robertson, McGregor and Fraser down the left. That's the main threat.

  7. Fans frustrated?published at 20:16

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

    Jane Lewis
    BBC Sport Scotland at Hampden

With Scotland having to be patient, so too the supporters watching on. A few minutes ago, we heard some whistles around the ground. Not sure if that was the Tartan Army showing their displeasure or frustration at their team or not? Not much cheering or trying to rally their players. A goal would change all that....

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 26 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

Cyprus goalkeeper Constantinos Pardo's forced into a great save to deny Charlie Mulgrew's menacing free kick. From the subsequent corner, Scotland debutant Eamonn Brophy sends a header wide.

A ripple of excitement reaches every part of Hampden, but we're still waiting for the opening goal.

  9. Promising attack fizzles outpublished at 23 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

Scotland are lacking a cutting edge in the final third. A galloping Callum McGregor one-two fails to bear fruit amid a sea of white jerseys.

  10. Awaiting our first goal...published at 20 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

The opening 20 minutes of the Steve Clarke era has boasted a couple of half-chances but a greater emphasis on absorbing pressure before hitting on the counter.

Similar to how his Kilmarnock side put many a Scottish Premiership foe to the sword.

GOAL Belgium 2-0 Kazakhstanpublished at 20:07

    Timothy Castagne

Having scored Belgium's opener, Dries Mertens creates the second with a clever chip that is met by the head of Timothy Castagne, who makes no mistake from 10 yards.

The world number one side are well on their way to topping Scotland's group.

  13. CLOSE!published at 18 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

The visitors are knocking on the door. John McGinn tries his best Sheriff impression to call a Cyprus counter attack to a halt, but the men in white are too quick.

The ball is fed out wide to Kousoulos, who sends an effort into the arms of David Marshall as Hampden holds its breath.

  14. goal

GOAL Belarus 0-1 Germanypublished at 20:05

    Leroy Sane

Twelve minutes on the clock and the four-time world champions have taken the lead at the Borisov Arena.

And it's Manchester City forward Leroy Sane who's on the scoresheet.

Playing as a lone striker, the pacey forward receives the ball from Joshua Kimmich in the area, and coolly fires past Aleksandr Gutor to give his side the lead.

As it stands, Germany move onto six points but remain second in Group C.

  15. goal

GOAL Belgium 1-0 Kazakhstanpublished at 20:04

    Dries Mertens

Belgium are well on their way to confirming their position as group favourites as they take the lead at home to Kazakhstan.

Eden Hazard, the winger who has just joined Real Madrid from Chelsea, sets up Dries Mertens and the midfielder's deflected shot finds the net.

  16. Fraser brought back to earthpublished at 15 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

Here's a chance for Scotland. Ryan Fraser, like an excitable hamster exiting his wheel, speeds down the left before being mercilessly chopped down by Ioannis Kousoulos.

Free kick in a promising position. Fraser dusts himself down before taking the free-kick, but the Cyprus defence isn't troubled by a poor delivery.

  17. 'Hand ball, ref!'published at 13 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

Referee Ola Hobber Nilsen is having none of it. Despite the howls from Scotland fans, as Callum McGregor sees his effort deflected by Kostakis Artymatas. With the use of his arm? Probably, but not a foul, according to the eagle-eyed whistler.

  18. Scots warming to the taskpublished at 11 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

Callum McGregor is almost in on goal for Scotland, save for some quick-thinking in the Cyprus defence.

The Scotland fans inside Hampden find their collective voice to light up Saturday night inside the national stadium.

No goals, but no alarms yet, either.

  19. Case for the counter attack...published at 9 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

Steve Clarke's Kilmarnock side would always be adept at soaking up pressure before hitting the opposition on the break.

Is the Scotland manager trying to do something similar in charge of the national side?

  20. Cyprus looking comfortablepublished at 8 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Cyprus

Cyprus are growing in confidence. Some neat passing sees Georgios Efrem, wide on the right, clip a cross into the box but Scotland hold firm.

Early warning signs for Steve Clarke's troops.
