  5. Arsenal's acid testpublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 24 August 2019

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Anfield

Arsenal have had some harrowing experiences at Anfield in recent seasons, losing 5-1 here last season and 4-0 the season before.

It is no surprise, therefore, that this fixture can be used as a measure of Arsenal's progress and expectations.

If they can come away from Anfield with at least a point, then there may be real cause for optimism. A big "if" given their record - but plenty of talent and threat in Unai Emery's line-up, with Nicolas Pepe making his first start.

"If you don't get points against teams around us then we'll be kicking ourselves later in the campaign."

"The travelling fans they come and sing all game."

Per Hetwall: The really awful thing for ManU is that their problems were partly hidden by a phenomenal goalkeeper... ...until a few months ago.

Why does Solksjaer refuse to play a midfield? Need Matic and Mctominay centre and Pogba 10. Lingard is not a 10. End of this game we had 3 strikers 2 numbers 10s 1 winger and a defence. 0 MIDFIELD of course United cant win.
