We knew they were going to have the ball, we knew they were going to attack, We have been working on that all week. At half time we knew we were not going to lose that game. We wanted the three points."

On Crystal Palace beating Manchester United for the first time in the Premier League: "There is a first time for everything. I think we played really well. I think we deserved the three points."

Arsenal have had some harrowing experiences at Anfield in recent seasons, losing 5-1 here last season and 4-0 the season before.

It is no surprise, therefore, that this fixture can be used as a measure of Arsenal's progress and expectations.

If they can come away from Anfield with at least a point, then there may be real cause for optimism. A big "if" given their record - but plenty of talent and threat in Unai Emery's line-up, with Nicolas Pepe making his first start.

Southampton

Saints goalscorer Nathan Redmond: "I should probably get more of those sort of goals in those areas. It's getting tough to win games in the Premier League - teams are playing good football.

"If you don't get points against teams around us then we'll be kicking ourselves later in the campaign."
