    Aberdeen 1-0 Hearts

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

It's only the one goal and they've recovered well from that Cosgrove strike. They did ride their luck a little bit, especially in the five minutes after the Aberdeen goal, but they've come through that, played some decent football and created opportunities.

  2. HALF-TIME: Aberdeen 1-0 Heartspublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 4 August 2019

    Sam Cosgrove (13')

It has been a feisty opening 45 minutes with numerous bookings and dangerous challenges, but Aberdeen will surely be going in at the break with big smiles to accompany a few bruises.

Sam Cosgrove's seventh goal of the season in the 13th minute is all that separates the two sides but there will be surely far more to play for in the second half.

  3. YELLOW CARD - Shay Loganpublished at 46 min

    Aberdeen 1-0 Hearts

Shay Logan is awarded a yellow card after a late challenge on Jake Mulraney.

  4. 'Close to boiling point'published at 15:42 British Summer Time 4 August 2019

    Aberdeen 1-Hearts

    BBC Scotland pundit

    Quote Message

The game is at that stage where you're worried it's going to boil over. There's been so many fouls, so many tackles and the crowd is getting involved. I'd hate for a team to go down to 10-men and spoil it, because it's been a great game.

  5. Hearts substitutionpublished at 40 min

    Aberdeen 1-0 Hearts

John Souttar seems to have picked up an injury and is forced to come off. Craig Levein has decided to replace him with Clevid Dikamona.

    Aberdeen 1-0 Hearts

    Stephen Couse

Sean Clare is the latest Hearts player to incite rage from the Aberdeen fans - he went in recklessly for his challenge on Scott Wright. Moments before Uche Ikpeazu was booked for an aggressive toussle with Scott McKenna - it's heating up at Pittodrie.

  7. Reckless from Ikpeazupublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 4 August 2019

    Aberdeen 1-0 Hearts

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

It's a really awkward challenge from Ikpeazu. It doesn't look like he's looking where McKenna is. I'm not sure where he was looking when he was going for that ball or if he was even going for the ball there. The referee has decided it was a bit reckless and I think I would agree with him there.

  8. YELLOW CARD - Sean Clarepublished at 36 min

    Aberdeen 1-0 Hearts

Another Hearts player is in the book. This time it's Sean Clare after going through the back of Scott Wright.

  9. YELLOW CARD - Uche Ikpeazupublished at 33 min

    Aberdeen 1-0 Hearts

Uche Ikpeazu has been booked for a really bad aerial challenge on Scott McKenna. The Aberdeen defender looked as though he was anticipated the ball and was then completely flattened by the striker.

    Quote Message

He was in a central role [in European action] but he seems to be playing in a wing role today and I've been very, very impressed with him. Full of energy, looks like he likes to get forward but isn't scared of the hard graft as well.

  11. YELLOW CARD - Aaron Hickeypublished at 28 min

    Aberdeen 1-0 Hearts

The Hearts midfielder is booked for a cynical attempt to trip Scott Wright during a dangerous Aberdeen counter attack.

    Quote Message

We just over 20 minutes in and it's been a great game already. Hearts started well, Ikpeazu was causing a few problems with free kicks in dangerous areas. Aberdeen went ahead after a soft penalty claim and a corner, and since then they've been the better team.

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 20 mins

    Aberdeen 1-0 Hearts

Joe Lewis keeps his side in front, with the Dons keeper at full-stretch to push away a powerful header from Christophe Berra. The Hearts skipper can't believe he hasn't equalised from Andy Irving's excellent corner.

  14. Brilliant from Goldsonpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 4 August 2019

    Kilmarnock 1-2 Rangers

    Neil McCann
Former Scotland and Rangers winger on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

What a brilliant delivery from Tavernier. You can say what you like about free headers, sometimes when there's contact and if you really want it, you go and throw yourself into it with purpose like Goldson - it's brilliant and there's no way Branescu was getting it.

  15. Who else?published at 15:19 British Summer Time 4 August 2019

    Aberdeen 1-0 Hearts

    Stephen Couse
    BBC Sport Scotland

Sam 'Ballon d'Or' Cosgrove has been the difference in the opening 15 minutes and is already on seven goals for the season after picking up on a ball Christophe Berra was unable to deal with. Uche Ikpeazu had been a bit of a handful at the other side, winning free-kicks in dangerous positions three times already - but since Cosgrove's goal Aberdeen have looked dangerous.

  16. FULL-TIME - Kilmarnock 1-2 Rangerspublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 4 August 2019

Rangers have claimed all three points at Rugby Park after another dramatic afternoon in Ayrshire between these two sides.

Stephen O'Donnell would have surely thought he'd earned his side a point when he fired home an equaliser to Scott Arfield's opener in the 83rd minute but it was Connor Goldson who stepped up at a critical moment to fire home a header in the dying moments of the game.
