Tough gig, managing United these days.

If Solskjaer had started all of these suggested youngsters at once he'd get flak for throwing them all in together wouldn't he?

More to the point, I've been away for a bit covering the cricket. Can anyone explain how Chris Smalling has got a move to Roma?!

Jack: Ole keeps talking up Greenwood as the reason he can afford others to leave but we are short on strikers yet Greenwood still on the bench, he should put his money where his mouth is.

Francesca Gunn: Ole finally got Lingard off the starting 11, but still no Mason Greenwood or Chong, cmon give them a chance.

Sho Rahman: One young player who's not getting a chance at all is Angel Gomes. Played last night so already knew he wouldn't be involved today but I just don't get it. With our lack of creativity I seriously don't understand why he's not getting a chance.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: "I must say I have watched Southampton a few times and I like the way they are set up. They are aggressive and put you on the back foot.

"Jesse Lingard - well, Juan Mata is in his position today. He has been champing at the bit. Jesse has done well this season.

"We have seen a few players go to Italy this week, it was the right decision for the boys and for us, Alexis Sanchez and Chris Smalling needed to play and Matteo Darmian has been looking to go back for a while."

"The key is always our work without the ball and organisation against a good team. We will try to be committed today."

RE Andy Wilson (11:26) The doom and gloom is just people's way of having a constant pop, because it is United it makes them feel important. We know Ole is having to rebuild, he has some way to go yet but he will get there, just treat the negativity with the contempt it deserves.
