  1. Selling players to foreign clubspublished at 07:16 British Summer Time 8 August 2019

It's important to remember that Premier League clubs can still sell players to other leagues after today's deadline.

The danger with that is that those clubs cannot bring in anybody to replace players past that point.

So if Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen transfers to a club in Spain after today's deadline, Mauricio Pochettino will have to wait until January to bring in a replacement.

  2. 'Welbeck a splendid signing on a free'published at 07:14 British Summer Time 8 August 2019

    The view from the fans

    Watford

Matt Rowson, bhappy.wordpress.com: "A relatively low key summer for Watford's recruitment team sparked yesterday with the unheralded recruitment of Danny Welbeck, a splendid signing on a free. This might not be the end of it; if Ismaila Sarr arrives today it will be for a record transfer fee and a load of excitement but by all accounts he's not the only iron in the fire; a physically dominant centre-back seems to be high on the list, with interest in other areas suggesting that there might be some traffic out as well as in. Not Abdoulaye Doucoure however, as the expected opportunity of a step up never materialised.

"We have an excellent squad and good cover in most areas so if it IS a quiet day at Vicarage Road I won't be unhappy."

Kerron Cross: Yes, we’d love to sign Ismaïla Sarr, but a good transfer deadline today would be for Watford to hold on to the 3 Ds - Deulofeu, Doucoure and Deeney. Anything else is a bonus!

  4. When does the window close?published at 07:11 British Summer Time 8 August 2019

  13. Spurs agree fee for Sessegnonpublished at 06:32 British Summer Time 8 August 2019
    Breaking

First bit of actual transfer news this morning, Tottenham have reached an agreement with Fulham to sign England Under-21 left-back Ryan Sessegnon for £25m, with Spurs midfielder Josh Onomah moving the other way.

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s proposed signing of Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is likely to be on loan with an obligation to buy.

  14. Who could move today?published at 06:28 British Summer Time 8 August 2019

Tottenham are being strongly linked to Juventus forward Paulo Dybala and Real Betis midfielder Giovani lo Celso -with their playmaker Christian Eriksen keen on a move abroad. They ended their interest in a loan move for Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho on Wednesday.

Manchester United had been interested in both Dybala and Eriksen but could now make no deadline-day signings.

English clubs can still sell players after the deadline - with Romelu Lukaku likely to leave United for Inter Milan, who have made a fresh bid for the striker.

Likewise, Eriksen could leave Spurs any time until 2 September. But with Premier League clubs unable to sign replacements after Thursday, a Paul Pogba exit from United seems less plausible.

Also, this has the potential to be a surprise move - Arsenal have been linked with Chelsea's David Luiz. One to watch out for today...
