Tunde Paul: Thought Liverpool could have scored more goals against Norwich earlier in August but looking at Norwich game against Man City today, I’ve got a different opinion about them, they’re a decent side.

• Norwich registered only their second win in their last 15 Premier League meetings with the reigning champions (W2 D1 L12) – their other win was also against Man City in May 2013.
• Manchester City suffered a Premier League defeat against a newly-promoted opponent for the first time since March 2015 against Burnley – they had been unbeaten in 25 such matches before today, including all 18 under Pep Guardiola.
• Norwich’s Teemu Pukki has been involved in eight goals (6 goals, 2 assists) in his first five Premier League appearances – only Sergio Agüero has been involved in more goals in a player’s first five appearances in the competition’s history (9).
• Man City striker Sergio Agüero became the third player to score in a team’s first five Premier League matches of a season, after José Antonio Reyes for Arsenal in 2004-05 and Wayne Rooney for Manchester United in 2011-12.
• Manchester City conceded three goals in a league match against a newly-promoted team for the first time since August 2013, when they lost 3-2 away at Cardiff City.
• Norwich’s Emiliano Buendía is the first midfielder to assist as many as four goals in his first five Premier League appearances since Eden Hazard in 2012.
• Manchester City conceded twice in the opening half-hour of a Premier League game for only the second time under Pep Guardiola, also doing so in December 2016 against Leicester City, when they conceded three times.

Manchester City midfielder Rodri, speaking to BBC Sport: “That’s football. It wasn’t a normal game, but we have to look forward.

“The season is very long, you’re going to have matches like this – at least two or three.

“We’re not a 10 as a team. We’re not perfect.

“The only positive thing we can say is that it’s early in the season. We’re five points behind the leaders, but we need to keep going.”

Norwich boss Daniel Farke says it is a "special" day after his side inflicts Manchester City's first Premier League defeat since January.

Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to Sky Sports: “It was a good game. They arrived three or four times [in front of our goal]. At the same time I know what we can do. I love my players and it’s an honour to be with them.

“The people cannot expect us to win or pick up 100 points all the time. We’re going to recover now and come back.

“Normally I count how many chances they create. I don’t have that feeling that they had many chances to score a goal, which sometimes happens.”

On the Stones-Otamendi defensive partnership: “They play together a lot - they are the central defenders that we have. It happens.”

Norwich City

Norwich midfielder Kenny McLean, speaking to Sky Sports: “I don’t think many people gave us a chance. We had our backs against the wall and came out fighting. Our performance was superb from the first minute. They had a lot of the ball - we knew that they would - but we did well.

“I think we need to take a lot of credit. They’re one of the best teams in world football and we've done an excellent job.

“We’re here on merit. We just need to pick up as many points as we can. Against teams like this is when the best comes out of us.

“It gives us confidence and something to build on. It shows we belong at this level.”

On his goal: “It was OK. It's a run I make at corners - we work on them quite a lot.”

Norwich City

Norwich City manager Daniel Farke, speaking to BBC Sport: "Of course it is special day for us and for the club. Against one of the best teams in the world and when we have so many injuries.

"We have so much passion fro our owners and we couldn't ask for more from them so this win is for them.

"We had to be special in our plan for City because they are the best team in the world but we had setbacks too with our injuries, but we deserve the win today we were exceptional.

"[Ibrahim] Amadou was beautiful today playing in an unusual positon and a debut for Alex Tettey and Sam Byram too. I can't praise the lads enough today. We had so many things too overcome.

"Teemu [Pukki] was brilliant, not only because of his goals but for his work rate too. Teemu always thinks about the team first which is why he deserves all of the praise.

"We want to win each and every game and we will try to defend. But with our philosophy we cannot just press a button and park the bus, we have to go with what we've got and what we believe in which is being on the front foot. But today it wasn't possible to dominate the ball so we had a special plan and thankfully it worked well."

Spanish La Liga

There is a late game in La Liga, with Barcelona facing Valencia, who changed managers this week.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on BBC Sport: "Congrats to Norwich. The first goal was from a set-piece and the second on the counter so credit to them. It is what it is. We have to learn from this and carry on.

"Our passing was not bad. We created chances but we could not score them today. They are a really good team with good players with quality, we saw that in the Championship last year, they were clinical today.

"We did not have urgency in the final third that we normally have. In football you can't always avoid mistakes. I don't know how many shots we had or how many they had, but football is about goals and about what you do in the boxes."

Norwich City

Norwich goalscorer Todd Cantwell on Sky Sports: "The togetherness we showed last year, we showed it again today. To beat a team like them shows how together we are. We're showing Carrow Road isn't an easy place to come.

"In the changing room we know what we're capable of. We knew we had nothing to lose and everything to gain. We've shown anything is possible by beating a team like that.

"Me and Teemu [Pukki] have a brilliant connection so far. We're building on what we had last year and we're setting each other up. I always knew he'd square it - he's more than just a goalscorer.

"When you put so much work in to get a result like that it's more than just three points."

Norwich City

Norwich striker Teemu Pukki on BBC Sport: "I had a chance to score 10 seconds before I did and I took a bad touch before my goal too. It was an important goal for us and an important three points.

"It was important for us to get the three points as we only had three before this. Obviously this gives us a big boost for the next games as well. We showed today we are a good team and not to count us out.

"We have a lot of quality - it is a pleasure to play with these guys."

Norwich City

Norwich goalscorer Todd Cantwell on BBC Sport: "We all got given our chance last season and we're paying the manager back by keeping his faith in us now.

"Me and Teemu [Pukki] have got a brilliant connection so if we can keep working well together and setting each other up and putting them away, we should be alright.

"It's unbelievable. It's an unbelievable feeling, we just want to kick on now and go again next week."

On scoring against Man City and making his England U21s debut: "They're pinch yourself moments but I've just worked hard and now I'm getting the rewards."

It is a result that moves Norwich up to 12th in the Premier League.

Manchester City, meanwhile, are five points behind leaders Liverpool. A blow, no doubt, but if we've learnt anything about the team over the last couple of seasons it is that they will roar back from this.

It is all set up for an exciting Premier League season at both ends of the table.

The party can well and truly start in East Anglia now - a famous result for Norwich. Credit for the way they have approached their return to the Premier League, they are a joy to watch.
