  1. 'A side I really like'published at 14:55 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

    Brighton v Burnley (15:00 BST)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton head coach Graham Potter: "I'm expecting a tough game against a side who I really like. They're very good at what they do and have a good balance between defence and attack.

"They create chances and defend well, they can mix their game up and use their strengths in a good way to create chances."

The team news from Brighton has left many in the press box confused - Graham Potter said he wouldn’t change his side to suit Burnley but with four centre-backs on the pitch, and Glenn Murray and Neal Maupay both starting together for the first time, it looks as if we could see two teams playing 4-4-2 on a rare occasion in the Premier League.

No word yet on the absence of both Seagulls full-backs Martin Montoya and Bernardo - and also disappointment that we’re all by the seaside but the press box is in shade and has a distinctly autumnal feel!

It will be up to Spurs to break a good Palace team down. They didn't manage that against Newcastle last month, but I think they will have more joy this time.

    Prediction: 2-0

Man Utd v Leicester (15:00 BST)

Manchester United are unbeaten in their last nine league meetings with Leicester (W6, D3), and did the double over the Foxes last season.

But after winning their opening game of the season, Manchester United have gone three games without a win (D2, L1).

Meanwhile, Leicester are unbeaten in all competitions this season (W2, D3).

  5. 'I am pleased with parts today'published at 14:50 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

    FT: Liverpool 3-1 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce for BBC Match of the Day: “I am pleased with a lot of parts today, there is certainly improvement in the squad which is important. It was good up to a point. We scored a cracking goal. Yes they had good possession but we had a number of chances."

On Liverpool’s second goal: "They are very, very good. They are a threat and it’s why they are the Champions of Europe. The disappointment for me was the second goal. We made mistakes and it opened us up. I know our keeper will be looking thinking he could have done better."

On Roberto Firmino: "Liverpool were just incredible in the second half. It was just attack after attack. Firmino drops into those areas that no one else can. We were relieved when he was on the bench but then he came on and made all the difference."

  6. 'We need to be quicker'published at 14:50 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

    FT: Liverpool 3-1 Newcastle

    Liverpool

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson speaking to BBC Sport: "We didn't start the game the way we wanted to and to be fair to Newcastle they started brightly and scored a hell of a goal. That gave us the wake up call we needed and afterwards I think we kicked into gear and were too good for them.

"We need to be quicker getting back into our rhythm (after international breaks) or against teams in the top six we might struggle to get back into the game if we give away a goal."

On Liverpool's third goal: "It was a special goal. Bobby's (Firmino) vision is frightening and Mo's finished it off. 3-1 after a tough international break is always a good result."

It’s a beautiful North London show home, but Tottenham need to be less hospitable this season. Aston Villa and Newcastle both led here in August, and the latter didn’t let that advantage go.

Crystal Palace have a habit of being an unwanted visitor for the Premier League’s ‘big six’ too. They were the last team to win a league match at Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United. Quite some record.

Ashley Barnes has scored 13 Premier League goals in 2019. Only Sergio Aguero (18), Sadio Mane (16) and Jamie Vardy (15) have scored more.

Brighton have not scored more than once in any of their last 14 Premier League home games.

Tottenham v Crystal Palace (15:00 BST)

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson: "They (Tottenham) are one of the best teams in the country. They will have a strong team, we are confident with the start we have had, and it is a question of what happens on the day.

"We haven't scored as many as we would have liked. But keeping clean sheets is important and we must work hard to get in shape and keep our shape. If a game becomes open and who will score the most goals, we might not always come out on top."

Tottenham v Crystal Palace (15:00 BST)

Crystal Palace have beaten Tottenham only once in their past 12 Premier League fixtures (D1, L10).

But Tottenham have only averaged a point per game from their last 16 Premier League games (W4, D4, L8).

Ahead of today's games, Palace were one of only two clubs yet to concede a first-half goal, the other being Liverpool.

  12. 'Firmino would make life difficult for any defender in the world'published at 14:41 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

    FT: Liverpool 3-1 Newcastle

    Liverpool

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk speaking to BT Sport: "We knew we were just going to have to break them down. They kept defending and waiting for the opportunities. Obviously, to go 1-0 down here was not good but we reacted the right way."

On Roberto Firmino's performance: "He is a very important player for all of us. I know how difficult it is for a defender when the striker drops his position and he is making life difficult for any defender in the world, I think. He is so good and I am very happy he is on my team."

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum: "We were lucky that the goal (Liverpool's first) came quite soon after theirs and after that it was not as difficult as before. They still created chances to score for 2-2."

    Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle goalscorer Jetro Willems: "It's disappointing because we had two mistakes in the game and they led to two goals. If you give Liverpool a chance they will take it.

"In the first 20 we were really good, we were searching for the space, passing well, looking calm. They put pressure on us and we let is change us.

"We have played some quiet tough games but we are not doing terrible. We need to keep going and keep believing. That is what is important."

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Former Man Utd defender Wes Brown on the club's current back line: "It's going to take time. The two signings we made in the summer have been excellent. The manager is changing things round and a few players have gone. I'm sure he would have liked to have brought a few more players in.

"Since Harry (Maguire) and Aaron (Wan-Bissaka) have come in I think we can see it has got better. Aaron is a young player and has all the determination in the world. Harry is a bit more established, he has played a lot of games for Leicester and is an England international. You can see his calmness on the ball."
