  1. goal

GOAL - Liverpool 3-1 Newcastlepublished at 71 mins

    Mo Salah

    Oh, this is just sensational!

Roberto Firmino - build him a statue.

Mo Salah slips it to him on the edge of the box and Firmino flicks the ball twice - once to take it away from the defender, and twice to push it into Salah's pass.

The Egyptian carries his run on into the box and slips it past a stationary Martin Dubravka. Unstoppable.

You just wonder whether Newcastle can keep holding on. I know they need another goal but if they keep holding like this then they might get a chance, They are composed, well organised and look fitter than they have in recent weeks.

Liverpool swing a free-kick in from the right and it's Virgil van Dijk at the back post who gets a head on it.

His knock-back is blocked but the centre-back stays up! He slips it left to Roberto Firmino but the Brazilian gives the ball away. Newcastle have no outlet and it's straight back to Liverpool.

Sulaimon Adelekan: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain hasn't been the same since returning from that injury. He has given a lot of balls away today.

Lee: Liverpool are still playing like they’re one behind, and Newcastle are still playing like they’re one ahead.

    Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

The shots are piling up. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's curling effort is blocked but falls for Roberto Firmino on the right of the box.

The Brazilian has to stretch to keep it in and Martin Dubravka does enough to get his body in the way of the cut-back - Mo Salah was waiting patiently in the middle.

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 63 mins

    Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

Mo Salah is starting to enjoy himself now. He has a shot blocked in the box before he backheels it to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Eventually, it comes over to Roberto Firmino, who flicks it onto Andy Robertson. The left-back's shot is well saved by the keeper at the near post!

Joel Matip, to Trent Alexander-Arnold, to Roberto Firmino with a header...

Straight into the hands of Martin Dubravka. It's all too easy for Liverpool to pick out these crosses!

Liverpool's patient build-up doesn't come off as Sadio Mane mishits his cross from the left. A few moments later, he tries to thread it through to Mo Salah but gets it all wrong.

It's getting very comfortable for the hosts now though.

On the Georginio Wijnaldum chance earlier in the half:

It's a touch of class and a brilliant run into the penalty area. He takes a cheeky volley, it was wonderful technique and certainly one to watch.

    Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

Liverpool are straight up the other end and Trent Alexander-Arnold is allowed to dart into the box. He is just a few yards out when he shoots - but the angle is tight and Martin Dubravka does well to make the save.

  13. CLOSE!published at 56 mins

    Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

Christian Atsu does really well to whip a ball in from the left and it's awful marking from Liverpool, who have let Emil Krafth sneak it at the far side.

He is completely unmarked and even has time to bring the ball down but he fires it way over the bar.

What a chance! What a waste...

Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum play one-twos straight out of Fifa Street. Flicks, one-touch passing and quick turns before Wijnaldum pulls off an audacious half-volley which lands inches over the crossbar and on top of the netting.

    That would have been something!

    Nice restart from Newcastle though.
