    Sheffield United 0-1 Liverpool

Oh, Leon! The big man should have earned his side parity here.

It is a brilliant ball in from the left, which slices right through the heart of the Reds defence and finds Clarke, beyond the last defender and with just Adrian to beat from a few yards out. The pace of the ball beats him, though, and he slices his shot over.

With all due respect to Liverpool, Leon Clarke scoring with his first touch in the Premier League would have made my day!

FYI - Leon Clarke (34y 230d) is the oldest Englishman to make his PL debut since Chris Luketti (35y 107d), also for Sheffield United against Portsmouth in January 2007.

    Sheffield United 0-1 Liverpool

Adrian is booked for dwelling too long on a goal-kick.

I suppose Liverpool wasting time is a moral victory for Sheffield United. Not that this gets you any points. They'd rather just have the lost 20 seconds back.

    Sheffield United 0-1 Liverpool

Jack O'Connell jumps to try and head the ball goalwards from the delivery, but it lacks power and Liverpool are able to clear.

Now, what have Sheffield United left to give?

They win a corner to raise the volume in Bramall Lane...

    Save Dean, lad!

Not sure this makes amends for the howler he made in conceding the goal, but it goes someway towards it.

Mo Salah is through and has just the Blades keeper to beat, but Henderson stays tall and saves the Egyptian's shot with his leg.

Leon Clarke. It's Leon Clarke. Get in!

It is his first Premier League appearance at the age of 34. You could call him a journeyman. He's played for 17 clubs, but his career received a huge shot in the arm thanks to Chris Wilder's brilliance. Norwood makes way.

Chris Wilder is consulting his backroom team. Looks like they've decided on a change. First, Liverpool have a corner, which Salah swings in and a Blades defender heads away.

Mark Taylor: They say you need a little luck, but Liverpool must have an abundance of horse shoes, leprechauns and four leaf clovers in their dressing room.

Ash Williams: And there’s the slice of luck Liverpool had been missing.

And just like that, the whole complexion of the game alters.

Liverpool's halfway-line possession was stodgy and aimless a minute ago, now it is controlling.

Sheffield United need to come out and make something happen, whereas before they could sit and counter.

The goalkeeper has to take all the blame for that. It should have been so routine the goalkeeper - it is shocking for Sheffield United but great for Liverpool. It just proves that if you hit the target anything can happen.

    Clanger!

Liverpool are ahead and Dean Henderson is at fault. Georginio Wijnaldum has a soft effort at goal that looks to be meat and drink for the Blades keeper but somehow, awfully, embarrassingly he allows the ball is trickle through his legs and just over the line.

Do Liverpool deserve it? Possibly not. Is it cruel on Sheffield United? Absolutely.

  12. Postpublished at 68 mins

    Sheffield United 0-0 Liverpool

Oh, almost the breakthrough from Sheffield United. They overload Liverpool in the box and Fleck turns back inside before seeing his shot blocked. The ball ricochets up for McBurnie but he can't get a proper connection with his shot before a cross from the right is claimed by Adrian.

The ding and dong you might be hearing is a proper battle taking place.

  13. Postpublished at 66 mins

    Sheffield United 0-0 Liverpool

Oliver Norwood lines one up... and draws a necessary save from Adrian, diving to his right to push behind.

The ball from the corner falls at Matip's feet and he gets it momentarily stuck under his feet before hacking clear.

The European champions are struggling. And Sheffield United are loving every second of this.

Interesting. We've got a four-man Liverpool attack now. Jordan Henderon replaced by Divock Origi.

He's straight into the action, winning the ball down the left and playing a low ball for Salah, but the Egyptian swings and misses.

Nobody looks like scoring at the minute, you are not quite sure if anyone will either. Sheffield United have done their homework on how to stop Liverpool and it is working at the minute.
