Both sides are struggling a bit now after that daftly intense opening, the fundamentals of control and passing have just gone astray. Settle!

It was a really good chance. Hudson-Odoi picked up a lovely position coming inside. The ball got headed clear and it almost bounced into him. He took time to settle himself and as he struck it with his right foot he dragged it past that near post.

Defender Yaroslav Rakitsky has given Zenit St Petersburg the lead away at RB Leipzig with a left-footed volley from 25-yards.

That goal puts them top of Group G, temporarily at least.

Chance! Best chance yet for Chelsea. Callum Hudson-Odoi can't believe his luck as a defensive header falls straight at his feet, he's only maybe 10 yards out but he slices it wide.

Should have hit the target at the very least...

Like a boxer who comes out all guns blazing this Ajax side have just started to look a bit sloppy in their approach play as they tire. Chelsea win the ball back easily again and it ends with Callum Hudson-Odoi screwing a shot into the side-netting.

Jody Morris has been booked! Frank Lampard's assistant is booked by the ref, no idea why. Possibly for his trumpet-based celebration from 20-odd years ago. Deserved, if so.

The speed of this game is frantic. Not in the sense of headless play, it's the tempo at which Ajax are playing and when the ball goes out of play, 'bang' and it's straight back in. You cannot switch off for a second on that pitch as a Chelsea player.

Good foraging from the front as Tammy Abraham twice wins the ball back off the Ajax defence, then it's broken up and Ajax can attack. Hakim Ziyech shoots from range but that's a shank.

Hakim Ziyech zings a crossfield pass out to the left, if a cameraman has got that at the right angle he'll go viral. It comes back to him, his cross is low and hard but that man Fikayo Tomori is there to smash it out.

Not sure either side will be able to keep up this tempo for the full 90, we can only hope so. It's rattling along. Mason Mount carries the ball over halfway, looks to find Tammy Abraham in behind but Lisandro Martinez is in to make a very smart sliding tackle.

It was one-twos again for Chelsea. Ajax have got to be careful with that. The Chelsea players are passing it and running off them. They're not tracking them. It was a really sharp save by Andre Onana down to his right.

  19. GREAT SAVE!published at 14 mins

Lovely again from Chelsea, who have their foot on the accelerator. Mason Mount this time plays a sharp one-two on the left, he cuts inside and fires in a shot which Andre Onana is down well to and keeps out. Marcos Alonso threads a header wide from the corner.

What a good game to watch this is. Two progressive sides.

That was a really nice move from Hudson-Odoi. It's a shame Alonso couldn't quite take the pace off it and caress it into space by the byline.
