It's going to be 0-0, this. There, I've said it. Chelsea win a corner but they can't make anything of it before the bright Christian Pulisic drags a shot wide on the run.

Jaleel Oladipo: Batshuayi's miss is why he should never be rated ahead of Giroud. He's just too clumsy in front of goal for a striker. Everything is panicky, rushed with him.

Agubata Odinaka: After that miss, Batshuayi no longer fills me with confidence. Why, even my Granny would have gobbled that chance up.

Gary Webster: Batshuayi is off to Crystal Palace with Benteke moving the other way. You heard it here first.

Lovely flick from Callum Hudson-Odoi, a sort of no-look backheel into the path of Christian Pulisic, he gets into the area but his cross is shepherded away for a corner.

What a miss by Michy Batshuayi. You are not going to get a better opportunity at this level, away from home, to win this match. Frank Lampard can't believe it.

He's just got to control it and keep it down but he lashes it over from eight yards. It's a shocking miss.

That was the best chance of the night.

Ajax react by replacing Quincy Promes with David Neres.

  7. SITTER!published at 73 mins

    Ajax 0-0 Chelsea

    Oh dear Michy Batshuayi!

What a chance that is as a shot deflects into the path of the Belgian, he takes it on his chest and then slams it into a canal!

    MILES over.

Tammy Abraham's been a bit outfoxed by the two Ajax centre-backs. They may not have the match of him physically or with speed, but their positioning and speed of thought has been superb. They've read everything.

I can only think that Willian has not quite recovered from that knock. A couple of times since then he's had the ball and it looked like he'd burst into space but he's laid it off. He's taken the simple option. Maybe he's a bit dazed - he doesn't look quite right.

I'm sure Frank Lampard would have wanted to use that substitution for Hudson-Odoi, given the magnitude of this game and the stage he's at in his recovery, but he's going to have to play a bit longer.

That early death metal tempo is long forgotten now. We are down to slow dance stuff, Ajax just stroking the ball about to no real end.

Ajax are very streetwise. They've given a lot of fouls away but in clever areas.

Guy Hide: Loving what Frank Lampard is doing this season but you have to feel, especially in games like this, there is still a role in this team for WORLD CUP WINNER Olivier Giroud.

Not there, CHO. Callum Hudson-Odoi tries a pirouette in the centre circle and he's muscled off the ball, he then has to pull his man back cynically to prevent a counter. He barely touched his opponent but Phli Foden was sent off for that sort of thing last night.

Game's gone a bit scrappy now.

Too many moves breaking down due to Hudson-Odoi...time for a change.

    Steve, north Wales

CHO needs to come off, not impressed by him in this game. Pulisic should come on and soon.

It was a brilliant diving header by Edson Alvarez, right across the face of the Chelsea player Alonso. Tammy Abraham is in that near-post space and even though he is spare, he has a responsibility to go and attack the ball. He's a bit static on his heels, he needs to step forward and be aggressive for his team-mates.
