Right folks, it's 10.30pm Glasgow time and already beyond my bed time.

We started off tonight with a credible draw in Poland for Rangers, before Celtic rounded off a positive night with victory at Celtic Park over AIK. Good luck to both our teams next week, and the bloke that stole my dinner.

Until next time, take care of yourselves. And each other.

    Toodle pip.

With just a couple of games before national head coach Steve Clarke has to pick his Scotland squad for next month's European qualifiers against Russia and Belgium - has tonight's Europa League action made things a little bit better or worse?

You look at the areas of the park it's the strongest area of the Scotland team - midfield and the wider areas - where there's competition for the number 10 role. It's where Scotland have a lot of strength in depth and the players wouldn't let us down.

  9. 'It was a great performance' - Lennonpublished at 22:04 British Summer Time 22 August 2019

    FT: Celtic 2-0 AIK

Celtic manager Neil Lennon tells BBC Scotland: "It was a great performance from everyone. Two great goals, a clean sheet as well. The only complaint was we didn't get more goals.

"You have to be patient. Their goalkeeper made some great saves but we said at half-time 'just a little bit more'. On the back of a difficult week for the players they've come up trumps again.

"It'll suit us [AIK having to chase the game]. It's a decent lead, but we're capable of scoring over there and that's important."

Lennon was also full of praise for Michael Johnston and Christopher Jullien, who both impressed.

"I'm delighted with him [Johnston]. He's the sort of player who's got beautiful balance, a quick turn of pace, and the type of player we like here at Celtic and he's coming an integral part of our team.

"He [Jullien] was dominant. I thought he was very cool, used all his experience."

He's probably used Ryan Christie as inspiration, because Mikey Johnston from a young age has always had the ability to get on the ball, to eliminate players, to be exciting. He's got great little body movements, there's no way of defenders knowing which way he's going. What he has done is bulked himself up. It just takes time for kids to grow, and that's why he's probably looked at Christie.

The only way he's going to get past it is by standing up and continuing to be counted and working his way through it. It's horrible as it's just the start of his Celtic career and nobody really knows what his abilities and skills are like yet, as we haven't seen him before. It's not like a player who has been in the country for years where people can draw back on historic form and say it's just a bad spell. There's clearly tension, you can see it's playing on his mind. You can see it as he walked off that it's weighing on his shoulders, he's hunched and looking at the ground. He just needs to try and work through it. Worst thing you can do is not play or hide, you'll get found out quicker.

  18. Gerrard 'pleased' but wants 'more bravery' from Rangerspublished at 21:48 British Summer Time 22 August 2019

    FT: Legia Warsaw 0-0 Rangers

As Celtic gained a win at Celtic Park, Rangers carved out an impressive draw in Poland.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard was satisfied with his side's night's work in Warsaw.

"There's a lot of things about the game I'm pleased about," he told Rangers TV. "I thought we stuck together in a very hostile atmosphere. Legia are a good team and I think they proved that tonight.

"I thought certainly in the first half we were really really good. We all stood up and backed ourselves, we all played. I thought second half we lacked a bit of bravery. We were passing it well but with no real penetration. I would like to have seen us create more second-half.

"But all in all, we've come to a really tough place, kept a clean sheet and the tie's in the balance. We're going back to our place now and the atmosphere changes full circle."

  19. Celtic will 'take heart' from performancepublished at 21:46 British Summer Time 22 August 2019

    FT: Celtic 2-0 AIK

    James McFadden
Former Scotland forward on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

The onus was always going to be on Celtic to attack, certainly with the way AIK set up. It's alright saying go and attack and make stuff happen but there were some brilliant performances from Mikey Johnston, Ryan Christie, Odsonne Edouard when he got the ball, James Forrest. When you are playing a team like that it's so important to carry the ball and run at players or off the ball and create space for other players. They'll take heart from tonight.
