    Portsmouth 0-1 Southampton

Nearly two goals in three minutes for Southampton.

Danny Ings, who just bagged the first goal, is through on goal but is denied by a fine stop from Craig MacGillivray but the rebound falls to Pierre-Emile Hojberg whose shot goes past the goalkeeper but Oli Hawkins is in the right place to throw his body in front of the ball and make a vital block.

  2. goal

GOAL - Crawley 0-1 Stokepublished at 20:10 British Summer Time 24 September 2019

    Sam Vokes (23 mins)

Right place, right time! A Stoke corner isn't cleared, a shot comes in from the left of the box and it just hits striker Sam Vokes inside the six-yard box and cannons in.

A change of luck for the Potters?

    Colchester 0-0 Tottenham

Halfway through the first half and the League Two side will be delighted with this so far. Yes, Tottenham have dominated possession - 72% - but Spurs haven't had a shot on target yet. Lucas Moura, Dele Alli and Troy Parrott have all had half-chances but nothing properly clear-cut yet.

    Preston 0-1 Man City

A proper piece of showboating from Gabriel Jesus to flick the ball over the head of a defender, but he ends up losing it...

  5. CLOSE!published at 20:09 British Summer Time 24 September 2019

    Watford 0-0 Swansea

Watford are knocking on the door! Midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah hits a free kick just wide.

Raheem Sterling, nice and rested from watching the 8-0 win over Watford, had started to grow into the game in the final few minutes as Manchester City started to dominate before scoring that excellent solo goal. Can Preston find an answer?

  7. goal

GOAL - Portsmouth 0-1 Southamptonpublished at 21 mins

    Danny Ings

It had been all Portsmouth for the opening 20 minutes, but they are the ones who are now losing.

A minute before the goal Danny Ings had an effort pushed away by Craig MacGillivray, but the Portsmouth goalkeeper can do nothing about this one as Ings arrows a shot into the bottom corner to give the Premier League side the lead. That cutting edge is the difference so far.

    Raheem Sterling (19 mins)

But Raheem Sterling is the man to break the deadlock! A classy goal too, getting away from defenders to break into the penalty area and firing home via a deflection.

    Luton 0-0 Leicester

Not too much to get excited about at Luton so far. The best chance has fallen to Leicester's Marc Albrighton, who stung the palms of Luton goalkeeper James Shea.

  11. CLOSE!published at 20:03 British Summer Time 24 September 2019

    Colchester 0-0 Tottenham

Almost a first senior goal for Troy Parrott!

The 17-year-old Tottenham forward drags a shot across goal and it's dangerous but it nicks off Tom Eastman and goes away for a corner, which Colchester clear.

Parrott has been training with the Spurs first-team squad in the early weeks of the season and, with the north London side a little light on back-up to Harry Kane in the central striker's role, a big performance from the Irish teenager could help him force his way into Mauricio Pochettino's Premier League thinking.

Nearly game over at Hillsborough. Richarlison nods wide from a corner for Everton, who are coasting after those two early goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

    Watford 0-0 Swansea

Forgotten man Danny Welbeck is played through on goal for Watford - but his left-footed effort is tame and an easy gather.

  16. Postpublished at 20:01 British Summer Time 24 September 2019

    Preston 0-0 Man City

A bright start for Preston, who are giving as good as they get. Daniel Johnson whips a fine cross into the box which Claudio Bravo catches under pressure.

A big night for Manchester City's young central defenders - Eric Garcia and Taylor Harwood-Bellis, who are wearing a combined squad number of 128.

With City's injury problems at the back, there are spots up for grabs. Garcia came on against Watford at the weekend.
