It will be terrific news for the supporters, for Steven Gerrard, for the squad if it can come true. If it is £7m, it'll be interesting to see how that's getting paid up. Ryan Kent's been the one Steven's been after

  8. Naismith joins Hibspublished at 00:05 British Summer Time 3 September 2019

    Hibernian

Hibs have confirmed the signing of Jason Naismith on a season-long loan from Peterborough United.

The right-back signed a three-year contract with the League One side in 2018 from Ross County and went on to make 50 appearances last season, but has since been deemed surplus to requirement.

Hibs coach Paul Heckingbottom told the club website: “Jason is someone who knows the league and has done well up here before. He’s a competitive player who will add real presence to our squad.

“Jason also showed his enthusiasm to come and play for Hibernian by helping push through the deal in time.”

Jason said: “I’m delighted we were able to get the deal over the line and I’m looking forward to getting started.

“No-one has to tell me how big a club Hibernian are and when I heard about their interest I didn’t have to think twice.

“I’m looking forward to meeting up with the rest of the boys this week and getting to work.”

  9. 'It feels surreal'published at 00:04 British Summer Time 3 September 2019

    Celtic

New Celtic signing Lee O'Connor won't stick around in Glasgow for long, with internatioal duty demanding his immediate attention from tomorrow onwards.

However, the young defender is adamant that he can't wait to settle in at Celtic and start fighting for a first-team spot.

Speaking to Celtic TV, O'Connor said: “It feels surreal at the moment but I’m just looking forward to getting the international break over with and then starting with Celtic.

“I found out last weekend about Celtic’s interest, and it went from there. Today was a bit hectic but I’m just glad to get it through before the window shuts.

“The Irish squad met up this morning and I spoke to the manager, Stephen Kenny, and he was fine about me coming here today. I’ll meet up them again tomorrow for training.

“I’m a versatile player. I can play anywhere across the back four or midfield if needed. I’d say that I’m a wholehearted defender. I love defending and tackling, but I like to get forward as well. First and foremost, though, I am a defender.”

Just over 30 minutes left of the transfer window. Here is the verdict from some Scottish football fans. Get in touch with your thoughts by tweeting us at @BBCSportScot, external.

Mark: Kent is a great signing for Rangers, by far the best player in the team last season in the matches that I saw. Should have signed him during the summer and not waited until after the Euro and Celtic games. (Rangers)

Jamie: Sitting here at work in Wellington, New Zealand confidently expecting Hibs to announce a couple of defensive midfielders, a winger and a striker before the window slams shut. I suspect I (and all other Hibs fans) may be disappointed... (Hibs)

Anon: I'm happy enough with the signings Hearts have made this summer. It's only the coaching, tactics, formation, style of play, form and confidence that now needs changing. (Hearts)
