  1. 'There has been improvement'published at 13:39 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    Everton 1-0 West Ham

    Matt Lockwood
Former Leyton Orient defender on BBC Radio London

It's been a bit more of a positive start. West Ham look a bit more on the front foot. They are still not the best team on the pitch but at least there has been improvement.

  2. CLOSE!published at 51 mins

    Everton 1-0 West Ham

Declan Rice gets away from Theo Walcott and there's a huge hole of space in front of him. He moves it forward to Pablo Fornals and he has space too but can't get the pass away.

Moments later, Fornals has a golden chance when the ball comes in from the right but he can only flick it wide of the left post. Should have done better and he knows it as he falls to his knees.

  3. Postpublished at 49 mins

    Everton 1-0 West Ham

Angelo Ogbonna does really well to keep the ball in play on the left and hoists a cross into the middle. Everton had almost stopped, thinking it had gone out, but it's a comfortable pick up for Jordan Pickford in the end.

  4. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 47 mins

    Everton 1-0 West Ham

    What a start!

Lucas Digne swings it in from the left and Richarlison thumps it into the back of the net first time.

Terrific finish, but he's offside so it won't count!

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 46 mins

    Everton 1-0 West Ham

Andriy Yarmolenko, who scored for Ukraine against Portugal this week, is on for West Ham. No surprise there.

He replaces Felipe Anderson, who wasn't great in the first half.

  6. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Everton 1-0 West Ham

There's still only one goal in it. Can West Ham improve on their first half performance? They can't get any worse, surely?

  8. 'Longstaffs for England?'published at 13:28 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    Chelsea v Newcastle (15:00 BST)

    Guy Mowbray
    Match of the Day commentator

After such a demanding week I wouldn't blame Gareth Southgate for taking time off, but if the England manager is going to a Saturday game (and he will) then it's likely to be this one.

You don't get many matches with so much young English talent involved - and, yes, after their performances against Manchester United, I'm putting Newcastle's Longstaff brothers in there with Chelsea's many young Lions.

Can they do it again? That's what Steve Bruce is asking of all his players as they bid for a third win against 'big six' opponents already this season.

It's a huge ask against a fledgling Chelsea team that seems to have found its wings quickly. They've always been a fashionable club; maybe transfer bans could become trendy?!

  9. 'West Ham need to make a change'published at 13:26 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    HT: Everton 1-0 West Ham

    Matt Lockwood
Former Leyton Orient defender on BBC Radio London

They didn't get going but Everton did not let them. It has been tough for West Ham. Silva will probably be disappointed it is only 1-0 at half time. For West Ham, it could be a completely different game if they get the next goal. They need to make a change because they have been poor.

  10. Postpublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    HT: Everton 1-0 West Ham

Everton are dominating in every area of the pitch but they have been using the space out wide so well.

They have had six corners and five crosses from open play - most of them resulting in one of the 11 shots on goal (five on target).

It's no surprise Lucas Digne (43) has had more touches than everyone but Felipe Anderson (45).

Alex Storey: I honestly cannot believe how bad West Ham have been. I don’t remember any PL side being so incapable of putting more than 2 passes together. Painful to watch.

  12. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    Everton 1-0 West Ham

Probably the best half from Everton this season. West Ham have been awful!

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 45+3 mins

    Everton 1-0 West Ham

Tom Davies goes in the book for kicking the ball away. Bit needless.

  14. Postpublished at 45+3 mins

    Everton 1-0 West Ham

Felipe Anderson slips it left to Pablo Fornals but he's offside. Frustrations really growing among the West Ham players now.

Just blow the whistle. Give them some relief!

  15. Postpublished at 45+1 min

    Everton 1-0 West Ham

Better from West Ham. Mark Noble and Manuel Lanzini spreading the ball around well in midfield.

Arthur Masuaka then beats Theo Walcott on the left but Djibril Sidibe slides in to stop the attack.

  16. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Everton 1-0 West Ham

A rare West Ham period of possession never really looks like going anywhere as Everton are putting pressure on the ball immediately.

Djibril Sidibe, who has been excellent on his first start, manages to get a foot in and wins a throw-in on the right touchline.

Kevin Logan: This half from West Ham has been one of the worst I’ve ever witnessed! If they get into half time only 1-0 down they’ll somehow snatch a draw.

Dan Bell: Declan Rice is very average. Should be nowhere near the England team.

  18. West Ham fans unhappypublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    Everton 1-0 West Ham

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Goodison Park

The noises of discontent from West Ham United fans tucked away in a corner of Goodison Park can be heard clearly. They are demanding more urgency - actually any urgency - from their team and who can blame them?

The Hammers have been hopeless so far.

  19. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Everton 1-0 West Ham

If Everton want it, they can have all the space in the world here. West Ham are just letting them have it.

One ball over the top to Lucas Digne is headed down into the path of Bernard on the edge of the box and if he had chosen better options, Everton could have had two players in on goal.

  20. Postpublished at 41 mins

    Everton 1-0 West Ham

Sebastien Haller has no room to move on the touchline and the ball gets away from him. Lucas Digne takes no chances, absolutely blasting it and ends it hitting it straight at Haller! The Brazilian giggles a little and apologises but Haller doesn't quite see the funny side.

    I did!
