West Ham - a complete nightmare defensively. That was a great run from Bernard. Somehow he's got that ball past Roberto. Pellegrini will be fuming with how West Ham just defended but you cannot say that it has not been coming. Everton deserve the lead.

    Bernard

    How has he done this?!

It's a terrific move from Everton and Theo Walcott opens up the defence with a disguised through ball to Bernard.

The Brazilian doesn't hit it with his right, instead choosing to cut back inside before twisting and going back the other way.

The ball seemed to get away from him and it looked like he'd run it out of play but just about pokes it into the far corner from the tightest angle. Bernard looked just as surprised as Roberto Jimenez!

    Everton 0-0 West Ham

Lucas Digne wins a throw-in on the left and takes it himself. He's looking for that flick-on from Michael Keane again - a clear game plan - but the defender can't keep it in play at the near post.

Surprised nobody has picked him up. Both times he's got a head on it, West Ham's defence have been tested.

There's a glimpse of a chance as Felipe Anderson drives through the centre, with Sebastien Haller up in support to his left.

He tries to find Haller with a delayed through ball but Michael Keane is switched on.

Positive start from Marco Silva's side as they force the early pace. Good save from Roberto but Tom Davies had to score there. Encouraging signs for Everton.

    Decent start from Everton.

As you can see from the touchmaps below (Everton on the left), they have controlled the midfield and its tempo. West Ham have been pushed a little deeper than they probably would have liked.

What a save from Roberto, he just made himself look like a starfish. You cannot believe Tom Davies has missed that, you can just tell from his reaction that he cannot believe he has not scored. What a start from Everton so far - how are they not in front?

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 9 mins

    Everton 0-0 West Ham

    Talk about reflexes!

A second Everton corner from the left comes all the way through to Tom Davies at the back post and he hits it cleanly first time.

It's straight at Roberto Jimenez but the West Ham keeper reacts well to palm it out and away from the Everton attackers lurking in the six-yard box.

    Almost brilliant from Theo Walcott!

He brings down a long ball superbly on the edge of the box, spins, beats the defender, cuts inside and tries to curl it towards the bottom right corner.

It's deflected out for a corner.

Lucas Digne, with the captain's armband on today in the absence of Seamus Coleman, takes a throw-in from the left and Michael Keane gets a decent touch on it.

It bobbles around dangerously in the box before Keane's deflected shot rolls straight into the arms of the keeper.

But moments later, Everton win a corner. This is a good start.

    Manuel Lanzini to take...

Always going wide of the right post.

  13. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Everton 0-0 West Ham

Manuel Lanzini does well to squeeze the ball through to Sebastien Haller on the edge of the box.

The summer signing tries to get it through a wall of bodies and the ball pops up loose. Felipe Anderson stretches to get there and is then brought down by Richarlison. Free-kick in a very inviting position...

Andre Gomes tries to feed it through to Alex Iwobi but Felipe Anderson reads it and intercepts. He's then fouled from behind by Tom Davies.

Defeats to Burnley, Man City, Sheffield United and Bournemouth mean Everton are in desperate need of a win.

The Everton song is playing now - 'we play beautiful football'. Hmm, they will need to find some of that today.

  19. Bad times for Evertonpublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

Everton v West Ham (12:30 BST)

Everton could lose five consecutive league fixtures for the first time since October 2005, when they equalled the club's top-flight record of six straight losses.

The Toffees are also on the cusp of matching their club Premier League record of three consecutive home defeats.

Only Watford and Newcastle have scored fewer goals than Everton's six.

Mark Taylor: I reckon West Ham must be threatening the Guiness book of records highest accumulative shirt number total. 222 is a pretty big total with the lowest shirt number being 8. Bear in mind the lowest total would be 66.
