Everton v West Ham (12:30 BST)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Goodison Park

Everton manager Marco Silva has responded to a lack of firepower in novel fashion - but not selecting a recognised striker in his starting line-up.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is on the bench while Richarlison switched to the central position, not one he has relished in the past.

The big decision is dropping Gylfi Sigurdsson but the Icelander can have no complaints. He has been desperately poor this season.

Crystal Palace welcome back captain Luka Milivojevic, who was suspended for their win at West Ham.

Mamadou Sakho is again ruled out with a muscle strain, while Connor Wickham also remains absent.

Manchester City are set to be boosted by the return of Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones and Benjamin Mendy after injury.

Sergio Aguero was involved in a car crash earlier this week but is fit to play. Aymeric Laporte and Leroy Sane remain long-term absentees.

Everton manager Marco Silva, speaking to Sky Sports, on how they can bounce back: "Showing more desire. The detail will make the difference. We are looking for all the picture. We need to change and start to change now.

On his team selection: "Sometimes we change because we have a different plan or the players are showing me things in training. Injuries effect it too.

"We have just three players in midfield. We tried to give that one player difference in midfield with Alex [Iwobi] behind the front players."

  12. 'Silva will be first manager to go'published at 11:52 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

Everton v West Ham (12:30 BST)

    Jermaine Jenas
Ex-Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I feel Everton have everything - they're one striker short of a top side. But when the pressure is on, the players don't react as they should.

Marco Silva’s record has got a pattern to it. He’s staring it right in the face. I wouldn’t say this is the most difficult run of games they're on. This feels like a must-win. I think he’ll be first manager to go [of those under pressure at the moment].

In England, set-pieces are a huge part of our game. We saw frailties in De Gea when he came because La Liga wasn’t like that. Maybe Marco Silva is guilty of that. It’s taken him so long to react. In any business, if you’re not good at something, you surround yourself with people who are – and he hasn’t done that.

Brighton winger Leandro Trossard has returned to training following a groin problem and could be among the substitutes.

Solly March and Shane Duffy are also available but Bernardo and Jose Izquierdo remain sidelined.

  14. 'The goals have dried up'published at 11:47 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

Everton v West Ham (12:30 BST)

    Martin Fisher
    Match of the Day commentator

It's not quite crisis time at Goodison Park but the natives are restless. Again.

Four consecutive defeats have seen Everton drop into the relegation zone for the first time in two years. Ronald Koeman lost his job in October 2017; some believe it might end the same way for Marco Silva.

Defensive shortcomings have resurfaced and their goals have dried up.

On paper, it's a terrific chance for West Ham to extend their recent unbeaten away record and build on their best start for four seasons. A win could lift the Hammers to third in the table come the final whistle.

    Chelsea v Newcastle (15:00 BST)

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante has been ruled out after returning from international duty with a groin injury.

Defenders Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger remain out, but Mateo Kovacic is back in contention following a thigh problem.

Newcastle have no new fitness concerns and are expected to keep faith with the same team that beat Manchester United.

Isaac Hayden is still suspended, while fellow midfielder Matt Ritchie is sidelined with an ankle injury.

  16. 'Stadium was empty after we scored second'published at 11:42 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

Everton v West Ham (12:30 BST)

Sheffield United manager Oliver Norwood to BBC Radio 5 Live's Friday Football Social on their 2-0 win over Everton...

"We were quite fortunate with Phil Jagielka, who’d been at Everton 12 years. He said if we could get a lead, the players might make mistakes as pressure builds. It’s probably the worst we’ve played this season.

"We just spoke about whizzing it under crossbar and everyone piling in. We’ve got some big lumps who threw themselves at it. When we scored you got a feeling, we’re on top here, the crowd have turned, they’re making mistakes you wouldn’t expect. We played on that. We took 10 minutes to take every throw-in. The stadium was empty after we scored the second."

Adam Smith could be in contention to play for Bournemouth after a seven-week absence because of a hamstring injury.

David Brooks, Dan Gosling and Junior Stanislas remain long-term absentees.

Norwich will be strengthened by the return of several players, including goalkeeper Tim Krul after a back problem.

Alex Tettey, Tom Trybull and winger Onel Hernandez are back fit, and Ben Godfrey will travel after a successful hernia operation.

Jamal Lewis, Kenny McLean and Todd Cantwell have all overcome the injuries that caused them to withdraw from international duty.
