Dan D: This game has probably been the worst advert for football and VAR ever.

That Son red card must be rescinded. Unfortunate fall by Gomes after a relatively innocuous challenge. The ref changed his mind after being badgered by the Everton players. Horrible injury. Terrible refereeing.

#bbcfootball or text 81111 (UK only)

    Pat Nevin
Former Everton and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

This is horrible, horrible. Players look devastated and there is utter confusion here. Players with their heads in their hands. Son was distraught before he was sent off and Aurier can't watch and is praying. There is so much confusion. He is being led straight to the corner to the ambulance to take him to hospital.

  10. Postpublished at 83 mins

    Everton 0-1 Tottenham

Serge Aurier is also visibly upset as Paulo Gazzaniga comes over to comfort him. We've just seen part of a replay and it looks more like Andre Gomes fell awkwardly after the challenge.

Gomes gets a standing ovation while his name is chanted all around the ground as he is taken off on a stretcher. Gylfi Sigurdsson is on in his place.

  11. RED CARDpublished at 80 mins

    Everton 0-1 Tottenham

Oh this is horrible to see now.

Andre Gomes is surrounded by his team-mates as a stretcher comes on. No replays of the tackle, which perhaps indicates the seriousness of the injury.

Son looks absolutely mortified as he is now shown a red card.

  12. Postpublished at 77 mins

    Everton 0-1 Tottenham

Son Heung-min is booked for a late challenge on Andre Gomes.

Wait, this looks bad. Everton players rush over to Gomes and Son looks distraught.

  13. 'I am really struggling to figure why that is not a penalty'published at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2019

    Everton 0-1 Tottenham

    Pat Nevin
Former Everton and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

This is a huge pivotal moment in the game. We are all getting fed up with this waiting. Surely it has to be a penalty. Hang on how on earth is that not a penalty kick? I do not get it at all. It took so long and to us it looked obvious. That was over two minutes where we had no clue what was happening. Mad. Absolutely mad. Lots of angry fans because they don't know what was going. Nobody can see what's going on. I am really struggling to figure why that has not been given.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 74 mins

    Everton 0-1 Tottenham

Tottenham make a change as Giovani Lo Celso comes on for Tanguy Ndombele.

Meanwhile, Cenk Tosun came on for Theo Walcott just before the VAR penalty check.

What an intriguing second half this has turned out to be.

  17. Postpublished at 71 mins

    Everton 0-1 Tottenham

The wait goes on as several angles are checked, even Everton fans are booing as time drags on.

Two and a half minutes and still no decision...

  18. VAR

Video Assistant Refereepublished at 70 mins

    Everton 0-1 Tottenham

VAR is checking a potential penalty for Everton. Replays show a cross hits Dele Alli's raised arm inside the box...

  19. Postpublished at 68 mins

    Everton 0-1 Tottenham

Good response by Tottenham as Tom Davies superbly picks out Theo Walcott with a defence-splitting pass. Walcott attempts to cut the ball back across goal, it deflects off a Spurs player and bounces just wide of the post.

Anon: As an Everton fan of over 50 years, I can't remember a worse time. The football is dire, the players aren't good enough, the manager hasn't a clue and the very life is being sucked out of the club. We have relegation written all over us!
