  3. 'It feels a long time since we lost'published at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2019

    Man City 2-1 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, speaking to Sky Sports: "We went toe-to-toe.

"The amount of time we got in their final third we didn't have that little bit of quality. Games like that can be lost in the boxes.

"It feels like a long time since we lost a game. We know there is a transitional feel, but I know if we keep working we will be coming."

  4. 'We just focus on ourselves'published at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2019

    Manchester City

Manchester City goalscorer Riyad Mahrez, speaking to Match of the Day: "I did not even think about our gap from the top when we were losing 1-0.

"I thought about how to react to win the game, we focus on ourselves and we know if we do that we’ll be right up there at the end of the season.

  5. 'Disappointed with the small detail'published at 20:01 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2019

    Man City 2-1 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, speaking to Match of the Day: "We were controlling the game, we were playing some great stuff and we felt in control but you can’t be absolutely in control against Manchester City

"It was bad luck for their first goal, and absolute quality from Riyad Mahrez for the second and that changed the game.

"Maybe we were a bit slow with our movement at the back, I know we were giving them a good game but I am disappointed with the small details.

"If you look at City they are an example, and we’re at the absolute start of that process. A few of our players were in the Championship, but we want more."

  6. 'Aguero's injury does not look good'published at 19:56 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2019

    Man City 2-1 Chelsea

    Manchester City

City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to Match of the Day: "Chelsea are an incredible team, we knew it but we beat them. It was a typical high level game. Our back four played so good today. In the most difficult period of the game we scored on the counter.

"We created enough chances to score more goals."

On Fernandinho's display in defence: "I read the comments against Liverpool when they said he can't play at the back but.. (he's being praised because we won).

On Aguero's injury: "Hopefully we'll know tomorrow, but the first indication is not good. A muscular injury."

  7. 'Top game'published at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2019

    Man City 2-1 Chelsea

    Manchester City

City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a top game against a top side. Chelsea have been big quality for the past 20 years. When they went ahead in the best moments they had we scored through Kevin de Bruyne. then we missed a lot of chances.

"Chelsea are the masters at reading the passes - we had problems with Willian and Tammy Abraham. We fought a lot and had a good victory."

On conceding possession to Chelsea: "They are so good, they are an incredible team. It's Chelsea. Football is becoming like this. Most teams and young managers have spirit and nothing to lose. That's why the football is nice. Chelsea are playing incredibly well."

    Everton 0-2 Norwich

    Chris Sutton
Former Aston Villa striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Norwich were the better team and they deserved to win.

But what I find ironic is that Everton fans did not like Sam Allardyce’s brand of football

But what was Everton’s style of football today in the last 20 minutes? Just whack balls into the box.

    FT: Everton 0-2 Norwich

    Everton

Everton defender Seamus Coleman: "We did not show up today, it was not a good game for us. We were not patient enough at times, we tried to force things. It was not good enough, it’s only actions that can make it better. Words are meaningless."

On booing from fans: "Fans want to see results. We are not getting as many results as we want, they expect the best. We feel the pressure but that is our job. We need to start showing up on the pitch. I always look at what the players are doing wrong not what the managers are doing. We were not good enough. We need to put it right."

John Shaw: Sterling. That was a perfectly good goal ! How can VAR determine the precise instant the ball leaves the foot against the players exact positions?

Phil Knight: I've said it before, why can't the offside be determined by the position of the feet? There would be no debate then. Sterling's feet were behind two defenders but he was still given offside. Ridiculous.

  15. 'We don't care about other teams'published at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2019

    Man City 2-1 Chelsea

    Manchester City

City midfielder Riyad Mahrez, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a difficult game but we reacted very well after we conceded the first goal. This type of game it's most important to get three points. We're not going to play very good all the time.

Midfielder Kevin de Bruyne: "We had a couple of chance at the beginning and didn't hit the target. They scored but then we reacted with two quick goals. In the second half we kept it tight - they might have had more of the ball but we created the better chances.

"We don't care what happens to other teams - Liverpool, Leicester, Chelsea - we have to keep running. We know after the last two years the hard work we have to put in."

Neil: Unlucky. I thought we played well and matched Man City. Granted that was never offside but didn't make a difference really. We will build from this and improve. Much better than the result last season!

Steve: Apart from Chelsea's defence I am happy with what we are trying to do, we need a window to replace Zouma at the back. The negativity is not helping the team.
