Josh Verrills: Pellegrini getting the team selection wrong yet again; as expected. We need two up front, so he decides to drop Haller. Clueless and shortsighted as always. If West Ham lose heavily against Chelsea, which is likely, Pellegrini needs to go before we decline even further.

  9. Glass half full?published at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

    Tottenham v Bournemouth (15:00 GMT)

Eleven goals at either end in two games. Jose Mourinho's N17 initiation has been lively.

If your glass from the Tottenham in-house stadium microbrewery is half-full: Spurs are through to the Champions League knockout stages with a game to spare and Harry Kane is keeping up his average of a goal per game for club and country this season.

If your glass is half-empty: The defensive frailties are still there, Tottenham have not yet won back-to-back games in the Premier League this season, and Bournemouth beat Spurs the last time these sides met.

Just as well those Tottenham beer glasses fill from the bottom.

  10. 'Liverpool will want more'published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

    Liverpool v Brighton (15:00 GMT)

    Steve Wilson
    Match of the Day commentator

Graham Potter's new deal at Brighton - taking him through to 2025 - is a reflection of the success he's had in changing the Seagulls' style as much as it's a measure of the points they've won. That tally stands at 15, exactly the same as last season under Chris Hughton.

Liverpool will expect three points - but will want more. Wednesday's draw with Napoli was the 11th consecutive match in which they have conceded, while the only Premier League game they have won by more than once goal since mid-September was against Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp would love to see his side keep a clean sheet and rattle in a few goals at the other end. Brighton have sometimes helped Liverpool in this regard; four of the 19 goals Liverpool have scored against them in the last six meetings have been own goals.

  11. 'Pellegrini facing difficult chat'published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

Chelsea v West Ham (15:00 GMT)

    Mark Scott
    Match of the Day commentator

While Frank Lampard is exceeding expectations at Chelsea, his opposite number is falling well short of what West Ham were aiming for this season.

And while Manuel Pellegrini says "he never discusses the future with the club's owners", a difficult chat will surely be incoming if their poor run continues much longer.

Pellegrini is not the only Hammer in the spotlight though, with under-fire keeper Roberto dropped following his shaky showings.

Lampard's main selection issue revolves around replacing Tammy Abraham who is replaced by Olivier Giroud, while his other concern will be making things a lot tighter at the back than they were in Valencia.

You can bet your house Liverpool were keeping tabs on that match in Newcastle. The fans certainly were and it's packed out at Anfield.

City dropped points last season and Liverpool didn't capitalise. Can they do it this time around? Huge 90 minutes coming up in the title race.

  13. Palace will have self-beliefpublished at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

Burnley v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Alistair Mann
    MOTD commentator

Burnley's recent form has moved them stealthily into the top seven but nobody at Turf Moor is getting carried away; they are, after all, as many points off fourth-placed Chelsea as they are ahead of Norwich in 18th.

The visitors may, by contrast, have been winless in their last five games but a victory this weekend would still put them level on points with the Clarets.

Oddly, this is the first time Crystal Palace have left London since August, when they were victorious at Old Trafford. Having won five of their past six league trips outside of the capital (including at Turf Moor in March), they'll surely arrive in Lancashire with genuine self-belief.

Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard on Manuel Pellegrini: "He is a good man and manager, he will be working hard to turn them around.

  17. 'Roberto must try to improve'published at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

Chelsea v West Ham (15:00 GMT)

    West Ham United

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini: "Our best starting XI, in all the positions, will start the next game.

"Of course it's not a comfortable position [for goalkeeper Roberto]. He knows exactly about his performance, he has a career behind him, he has been a very good player in big teams so of course he cannot be happy in the moment, but it is what has happened and he must try to improve."

  18. More pain, more gain?published at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

Chelsea v West Ham (15:00 GMT)

But are there deeper problems at West Ham than just the goalkeeper situation?

The players - either by Pellegrini's design or their choice - are not putting the yards in.

The Hammers have been outrun by the opposition in all of their 13 Premier League matches so far this season.

  19. Roberto pays the pricepublished at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

Chelsea v West Ham (15:00 GMT)

It seems remarkable in this day and age, where Premier League squads have so much strength and depth, that one injury can derail a season and leave the manager seemingly on the brink.

Little did Manuel Pellegrini know what lay ahead when Hammers keeper Lukasz Fabianski was ruled out for two months with a hip injury.

With the Pole in-between the sticks, the Hammers lost just one match. Without him, they have lost six , drawn two - and not a single match.

Spanish keeper Roberto has proved a less than adequate replacement - allowing several soft goals to squirm in, scoring a calamitous own goal at Burnley and generally striking fear into his defenders.

Pellegrini has stuck with his man, who he signed from former club Malaga, until now...
