It's an interesting one why Tierney has not started as much.

Brighton, away at the Emirates, have had 50% of possession and more shots and that's a sign of how good they were in the first half.

Arsenal send on Kieran Tierney, still finding his feet in the Premier League, for Sead kolasinac. It sounds flat out there, 17 minutes left...

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder: "A missed opportunity. I am okay with that performance, it was always going to be difficult against a team that never shifted. The first goal is really important and it is super difficult when you go behind against a team like Newcastle.

"I was told at the start of the season that the linesman would not put his flag up and let it go. He put his flag up and the referee was about to blow his whistle.

"Everyone in the ground stopped. Jonjo Shelvey even nonchalantly went up and took an opportunity. His body language said to me he had seen the linesman had put the flag up and he was going to be offside.

"The game has changed. This game now is completely different to what I experienced as a 16-year-old lad as an apprentice. This game in a heartbeat has changed. I don't know where it is going and it is sucking the life out of me and the supporters."

    Yeah...

But Brighton are looking just as dangerous. What a job Graham Potter has done. Whether they will pick up more points under him than they would have done under Chris Hughton is up for debate but the coaching work he has done isn't. They are unrecognisable.

Newcastle defender Ciaran Clark: "This is a great feeling. We knew it would be a tough game coming here, they are on a good run of form and their league position shows that.

"We stayed concentrated for most of the game. They had a couple of chances in the first half but Martin Dubravka made some great saves."

On Jonjo Shelvey's goal: "Good ball up, good flick from Andy and Jonjo kept on going. They are the rules now, everyone seemed to stop but Jonjo didn't. The flag had gone up but Jonjo kept going and finished it off. Everyone is told at the beginning of the season to play to the whistle."

  8. 'Brilliant defending'published at 21:40 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Arsenal 1-1 Brighton

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live sports Extra

That is brilliant defending from Alzate, he almost matches Aubameyang for pace and gets a great block in.

  9. Postpublished at 21:39 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Arsenal 1-1 Brighton

For all of Arsenal's second-half improvement Brighton have had as many efforts on goal since the restart (six) as the Gunners have in the whole game.

But then Nicolas Pepe sends in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, great ball, but his shot is well charged down. Fine defending.

Ben Smith: Liverpool have won as many league games this season as Arsenal, Spurs and Man Utd combined!

  11. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 21:36 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

  15. CLOSE!published at 21:33 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Arsenal 1-1 Brighton

Chance! No! Brighton pull away on the break, Steven Alzate's cross is a good one, Aaron Mooy heads down and Neal Maupay should probably score from a few yards out but his first touch is clumsy and Bernd Leno can make a smothering save.

  16. Postpublished at 21:32 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Arsenal 1-1 Brighton

    Matthew Upson

Arsenal can't get too carried away. They have been lifted and it's far better to watch, much better from them in this second half.

  17. Postpublished at 21:31 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

Postpublished at 21:30 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Arsenal 1-1 Brighton

Lucas Torreira has been key to Arsenal's increase in pace since the restart but he's now down in pain after a challenge. He's made of tough stuff though, sure he'll be OK.

  19. 'Sheffield United were outfoxed'published at 21:29 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Sheffield United 0-2 Newcastle

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sheffield United played well. They weren't outplayed, but I think they were outfoxed. Newcastle were clinical.

They've only just got promoted. They were afforded a lot of possession and created opportunities but Martin Dubravka was equal to them.
