    Sheffield United 0-2 Newcastle

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC 5 Live Sports Extra

The second Newcastle goal is the most ridiculous goal you will see. You've got to play to the whistle. It was clearly onside. It was such a bad mistake from Sheffield United to not play on.

  3. CLOSE!published at 21:27 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Arsenal 1-1 Brighton

It's a different Arsenal since half time, is BFG on team talks? Hector Bellerin wins the ball back inside the Brighton box and pings the ball across, it's nearly a tap-in for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but someone gets a nudge on it...

Sead Kolasinac then does the same from left-back. Miles better from the Arsenal.

  4. 'A tactical masterclass from Bruce'published at 21:26 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Sheffield United 0-2 Newcastle

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Steve Bruce came in under severe pressure and he's outperforming everyone's expectation. It was a tactical masterclass, it's normally how his team set-up but it really nullified all of Sheffield United's attacks.

  5. Postpublished at 21:25 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Arsenal 1-1 Brighton

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

It's a flick from Lacazette, Kolasinac does not touch it and it loops into the back post, hits the post and goes in. I'm not sure if Kolasinac impedes the goalkeeper.

Brighton will be so disappointed to lose a goal to a set-piece.

  6. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:24 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Sheffield United 0-2 Newcastle

Smash and grab? Yes, but Newcastle defended well and their keeper was a star.

  7. 'Bruce will be delighted'published at 21:24 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Sheffield United 0-2 Newcastle

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Newcastle have done enough to deserve it. Steve Bruce will be delighted with his sides performance.

  8. 'Sheffield United haven't found an answer'published at 21:22 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Sheffield United 0-2 Newcastle

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Newcastle have worked so hard and Sheffield United just haven't found an answer.

  9. goal

GOAL - Arsenal 1-1 Brightonpublished at 21:22 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Alexandre Lacazette (50 mins)

And Arsenal's brighter start is rewarded! Mesut Ozil's corner is flicked on by Alexandre Lacazette at the near post, it loops up high, Mat Ryan and Lewis Dunk both try and clear it but the ball ends up going in off the post.

There's a VAR check for a possible offside but nope, the goal is good.

  10. Postpublished at 21:20 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Arsenal 0-1 Brighton

Arsenal trying to start at a much better tempo, Nicolas Pepe is past his man with ease but the cross is cut out - his introduction has seen Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang move into the middle.

  11. INJURY TIMEpublished at 21:18 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Sheffield United 0-2 Newcastle

Six minutes added on for the hosts to try and find a way back but the belief has gone with that second Newcastle goal. Hasn't it?

  12. Postpublished at 21:17 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Sheffield United 0-2 Newcastle

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Newcastle might not have been the most fluent but their players will definitely feel like they deserve it.

  15. Postpublished at 21:14 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Sheffield United 0-2 Newcastle

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was one that Freeman had to do. He got his first touch wrong, then his pass wrong and Almiron just got away from him.

  16. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:14 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Sheffield United 0-2 Newcastle

Frustration for Sheffield United sub Luke Freeman, who takes a bad touch, Miguel Almiron would have ran the length of the field so Freeman pulls him over.

    Almiron is then subbed.

Robin Best: Behind? Nothing new. You can see the problem is that they have no confidence any more and need a win but the lack of confidence is making them play completely rubbish and they just shout at each other or have a hump when it does not work. Relegation this year?

Jamu Njagi: Arsenal players miscommunication is a result of playing a different team every matchday. Freddie was Emery's assistant hence he already knows our best starting XI. We won't call for his sacking yet but he's definitely not the right person a for permanent job.

Simon: Can an interim manager be fired and replaced by another interim manager? Asking for a friend.

  18. Postpublished at 21:10 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Sheffield United 0-2 Newcastle

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

The stats would say it's been a smash and grab by Newcastle but they've done exactly what Steve Bruce has asked of them. They've performed to a man.

  19. Postpublished at 21:10 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Sheffield United 0-2 Newcastle

Newcastle moving level on points with their hosts as it stands. Their fans are in fine voice, eight minutes left. One of those nights for the Blades.

Dane: Harsh lesson for Sheffield United, and for everyone in football really. In the world of VAR, even if the flag goes up, you HAVE to keep playing.

Rhys: Sheffield United fans chanting about VAR, When their players should be playing to the whistle, not just stopping play themselves. No one to blame but Sheffield United here.

Mike Hall: That was little to do with VAR. The Sheffield United players have been in the game long enough to know to play to the whistle!
