    Newcastle 0-0 Southampton

After that brief flurry of excitement around Nathan Redmond's two chances it has settled down once again in Newcastle.

The visitors have definitely had the better of this. They've had three shots on target compared to none for Newcastle.

Jamie Vardy got two chances at that, he couldn’t believe it! It came after Villa defender Tyrone Mings had just come back on after having treatment, and I wonder if that threw the hosts’ defence slightly.

  3. 'Vardy is on fire'published at 14:25 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2019

    Aston Villa 0-1 Leicester

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

It is a bit lucky but that's the pace of Vardy. It is a great ball from Iheanacho, Vardy goes around Heaton, he miss-hits it but still has the time to get round Konsa and score. Vardy does ever so well to react to his miss-kick.

That’s a striker in great form. He’s on fire, his movement is brilliant.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 14:25 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2019

    Aston Villa 0-1 Leicester

Villa must be wishing they had taken Tyrone Mings off earlier. The Villa centre-back sits down on the turf in the aftermath of that Leicester opener, eventually coming off for Bjorn Engels.

    Jamie Vardy

    Guess who...

Jamie Vardy needed two bites but eventually he fulfilled his insatiable appetite for goals.

The Leicester striker latches onto a throughball from Kelechi Iheanacho - with the injured Tyrone Mings unable to sprint back - rounding Tom Heaton before stumbling over the ball.

But Vardy reacts quickly to get another chance and strokes in to score for an EIGHTH consecutive match.

Good job I'm not a physio. Tyrone Mings might be grimacing as he gets that hammy stretched but he is going to continue for the time being.

Qaaltagh: Saying this now - there's absolutely no chance Willems will be at Newcastle next season. He belongs at a top 6 club. Chelsea or Arsenal could do a lot worse. Such an underrated, underappreciated player. Great to watch going forward and defensively.

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 14:20 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2019

    Newcastle 0-0 Southampton

Two superb saves in quick succession by Martin Dubravka!

First, a poor pass by Jetro Willems is pounced on by Nathan Redmond and he is through on goal. He powers an effort but Dubravka superbly bats away.

Then, from the corner, Redmond has the ball again and opts for power but again can't beat the excellent Dubravka.

Ouch. Tyrone Mings' afternoon - and possibly month - looks to be over. The Villa centre-back pulls up clutching his right hamstring as he chases a ball on the right touchline.

Anxious looks on the Villa bench. Bjorn Engels goes for a run up the touchline.

    Norwich 0-0 Sheffield United

Teemu Pukki certainly has got his mojo back. The Finnish striker is stretching Sheffield United with his movement as he look to pick up passes in the channels.

Looking for his third goal in a week after strikes against Arsenal and Southampton.

Andrew: We’re literally about to find out if Leicester can keep the pressure on Liverpool at the top of the table come hail, rain or shine!

(At the moment it is rain, quite a lot of it...)

    Norwich 0-0 Sheffield United

Norwich doing most of the early running. A half chance for Canaries talisman Teemu Pukki, his low shot held by Dean Henderson.

He has to score! I don’t how he has missed that, El Ghazi just watches it to his feet but he’s leaning back and hits the bar. Great play from Targett and Grealish.

  14. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 14:14 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2019

    Aston Villa 0-0 Leicester

End to end stuff here. Momentum changing faster than the weather...

Caglar Soyuncu heads a Leicester free-kick across goal which is bundled back to Tom Heaton by Douglas Luiz before the home side spring forward.

Matt Targett leads the charge down the left, his low cross finding Anwar El Ghazi... surely? No! El Ghazi lifts his shot and smacks it against the bar.

  15. 'Almiron just needs that goal'published at 14:13 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2019

    Newcastle 0-0 Southampton

    Alan Green
BBC Radio 5 live at Villa Park

Allan Saint-Maximin has clearly got fantastic pace, but sometimes I’ve got the feeling watching him his head is whizzing around and he’s not quite sure what to do with the ball.

Almiron was very very good at the MLS level, but he’s finding it difficult to translate it into the Premier league – maybe he just needs that goal.

  16. Postpublished at 14:13 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2019

    Newcastle 0-0 Southampton

    Brilliant from Allan Saint-Maximin!

Some lovely skill on the left gets him away from the full back and then a burst of pace and some tight ball control sees him breeze past another two Southampton players. He cuts the ball back for Miguel Almiron but James Ward-Prowse is well-placed to clear before Almiron can get a shot off.

That's woken the crowd up after a fairly forgettable opening.

  17. Postpublished at 14:12 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2019

    Norwich City 0-0 Sheffield United

Enda Stevens breaths a sigh of relief. Norwich can't make that corner count, although Norwich midfielder Kenny McLean does force Dean Henderson into the first save of the match.

  18. Postpublished at 14:11 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2019

    Aston Villa 0-0 Leicester

You could hear that downpour rattling the Villa Park roof. It was like a scene from Twister for a moment.

That hasn't disrupted Villa though, who force a corner with a slick move. That comes to nothing though.

  19. Postpublished at 14:10 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2019

    Newcastle 0-0 Southampton

Now Shane Long gets through but fires wide. Newcastle were a tad sloppy in defence there.

  20. Postpublished at 14:09 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2019

    Newcastle 0-0 Southampton

First opportunity for Southampton to do something with a free-kick on the right side of the box.

James Ward-Prowse curls the ball in behind the defence and the hosts play it safe, knocking it behind for a corner. Ward-Prowse sends in the delivery but doesn't find a team-mate.
