    Norwich 1-2 Sheffield United

    As you were.

Sheffield United thought they might be given a penalty. Or a goal. Or a free-kick against them for offside.

After a lot pause-rewind-playing it is the third option.

  2. VAR

    Norwich 1-2 Sheffield United

Have Sheffield United scored a third? Something is being checked. Not sure what to be honest. All sorts of VAR chaos. Quelle surprise.

    George Baldock

Get on your dancing shoes, you sexy little....! George Baldock twists and turns before firing in. What a turnaround.

    Danny Ings (52 mins)

    A breakthrough!

Proper route one football as the ball is pumped long from halfway by Jack Stephens and the Newcastle defence is caught napping, allowing Danny Ings to steal in and fire home.

That's now five goals in five consecutive games for Ings. On fire.

    Jonny Evans

Simple stuff. Dangerous delivery by James Maddison from a corner, Jonny Evans rises unmarked to nod into the far corner.

    Enda Stevens

    Terms. Back on them.

Let's hope none of the Blades fans are stuck in the loo after half-time. If so they've just missed their side's only bright spot of the game.

George Baldock is allowed to swing in a cross from the right touchline and left-back Enda Stevens climbs above Max Aarons to head in.

Very weak goal for the Canaries to concede, No wonder Daniel Farke looks furious.

  8. Postpublished at 15:05 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2019

    Newcastle 0-0 Southampton

Crikey, what has Steve Bruce said - or shouted - at the Newcastle players? They have come out a team on a mission at the start of this half, putting the Southampton defence under pressure.

  9. KICK-OFFpublished at 15:05 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2019

    Aston Villa 1-2 Leicester

    The stragglers have arrived.

  10. Postpublished at 15:04 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2019

    Norwich 1-0 Sheffield United

Blades look to get back into the game quick sharp. David McGoldrick floats a cross-field pass towards John Lundstram but the ball is a little too strong and drifts out for a goal-kick.

  11. KICK-OFFpublished at 15:04 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2019

    Newcastle 0-0 Southampton

    Back under way in Newcastle.

Wouldn't say no to a bit more goal action this half.

  12. KICK-OFFpublished at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2019

    Norwich 1-0 Sheffield United

They're keen as mustard in Norfolk. First to restart.

Everytime Leicester go forward they look like a threat.

Iheanacho has been the outstanding player in this half: he looks like a different player from last season.

Kyle: When the ball got knocked back into the box. I thought a Villa player who jumped for the ball and made contact with the ball was offside. Lucky break for Villa and its against the run of play. Game on now though.

I suppose the whole country other than Liverpool fans will want Leicester to win the league. That's all good, it will make it all the sweeter if we go on to win it. Not getting carried away as yet.

    HT: Aston Villa 1-2 Leicester

Going back to that Villa goal... it appears that a home player (possibly John McGinn) was offside when a ball came into the Leicester box from the right.

Not sure he was involved though as the ball was headed out to Ezri Konsa, who chested into Grealish's pass.

    Aston Villa 1-2 Leicester

Two-nil would not have flattered Leicester - nor have been unflattering to Villa.

But Jack Grealish's strike with almost the last kick of the half gives the home fans some hope to cling on to as they dissect the first-half performance over a chicken balti pie.

The Foxes on course to reduce Liverpool's lead at the top to just the eight points.

What are they checking for? It’s a goal I don’t understand what they are moaning about.

The first half has been sensational, what a game of football!

Just what the home side ordered. And who else? Jack Grealish was cutting a frustrated figure before that goal and took all of his anger out in that whipped finish. Game on.

It counts! Not 100% sure what was being checked - maybe an offside which could have affected Kasper Schmeichel's vision? - but the VAR says there is nothing to suggest it should be chalked off.
