    West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

Tierney gets his own back on Snodgrass, felling the Scottish winger as he sends the defender into next week with a neat turn. Free-kick on the right edge of the box. A potentially dangerous one.

    West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

Robert Snodgrass is the first man in the book for a late challenge on Kieran Tierney to stop the Arsenal man breaking down the left. It's soft. And in a game like this, quite out of keeping with the pedestrian, passive tone.

Down goes Felipe Anderson in the box after chasing a free-kick and taking a challenge from Granit Xhaka.

VAR has a look, but it was never going to be a penalty.

There is nobody grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck. That is what it needs, someone to stick the chest out.

I don't know about all of you, but I'm not exactly gripped by this.

If ever an opening 20 minutes showcased two struggling, confidence-free sides, it is this.

  7. Postpublished at 18 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang drops to the turf as the ball flies into West Ham territory. I think he knew the pass was too far ahead of him and tried to con the ref. It didn't work.

Ilyas: If league titles where decided on having the nicest shirts then the Arsenal away shirt would be crowned best in the league, sadly the same can’t be said about the team itself

Bishop: What a turn by Pepe as he sent three West Ham players on errands

For a London derby, this opening has been so so flat.

    West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

Michail Antonio tries to make a nuisance of himself down the left. Pepe goes down holding his face, suggesting he might have taken an elbow to the skull from Antonio's team-mate Aaron Cresswell, but he's making an awful big meal of any contact.

I've taken bigger blows from my two-year niece.

    West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

Arsenal are a side so short of confidence. You think of Arsenal teams of old and they had that swagger and they could take the game to anyone.

Mesut Ozil delivers but it is met powerfully by Michail Antonio, whose header clears the danger.

Pablo Fornals wants a corner, but he's not going to get one. Ainsley Maitland-Niles was challenging but the last touch was off the Hammers man.

Tone is set here - Arsenal stroking the ball around largely harmlessly at the back, West Ham looking to snap into challenges, force turnovers and then go direct.

Aigle79: Like the lineup for the Gunners, good on ya Freddie, having a crack

Goonerama: I think this is a really exciting line-up from Ljungberg. Bellerin and Tierney will bomb on, Pepe and Martinelli will give energy down the wings, Auba is in his best position, and Ozil can supply the bullets. I expect some electric attacking.

First shot goes to the Hammers, with Felipe Anderson driving into Gunners territory before feeding Michail Antonio for a wayward shot that rises well over the bar.
