As a West Ham fan, I think they will pick up something up in these next two games against Arsenal and Southampton.

When Nicolas Pepe scored two fabulous last-gasp goals to beat Vitoria Guimaraes on 24 October, Arsenal seemed to have shrugged off any hangover from their deplorable defeat at Sheffield United three days earlier. But they haven't won in nine games since - their worst run since early 1977. Poor decision making at the top. Disgruntled stars. The club is a mess.
When West Ham superbly beat Manchester United on 22 September, I could see a top-six finish! They've had the one improbable win at Chelsea in 10 games since. Too many players don't know the importance of the shirt. Another shambolic home display could be the end for Manuel Pellegrini. I hope he can turn it around.

I get the passion of the West Ham fans but there have been so many false dawns over the years where managers have had good starts and then fail to kick on.
If they lose tonight they are in a relegation scrap, if they are not already.

It's not how Arsenal and West Ham imagined it would be at this stage of the season...

The owners at West Ham say they will back their managers. They haven't done it as much as they did when they were at Birmingham and West Ham are stuck in a difficult place at the minute.
They had a good run and the noises coming out of the club were aiming at the top four, but now they are looking over their shoulder at the bottom four.

If West Ham do lose tonight they'll have to keep a low profile around the capital for a bit.
The defeat would make them the first club to lose 100 Premier League London derbies.

Here's an ominous but ultimately meaningless stat for tonight...
West Ham have lost a Premier League-high 29 matches on a Monday.
Tell me why?

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini eased some of the pressure on him when his side secured that shock win at Chelsea just over a week ago.
But another defeat tonight will put the Chilean right back in the firing line ahead of Saturday's crucial trip to Southampton.
The Hammers heirarchy want to give Pellegrini time - but they want to avoid getting relegated even more.
A failure to win either of their next two games will leave the club either in the drop zone, or just outside.
West Ham v Arsenal (20:00 GMT)
As I mentioned earlier, Arsenal interim boss Freddie Ljungberg not only has playing history with the Gunners but with West Ham too.
He made his name in north London, scoring 71 goals in 326 appearances to help Arsenal to win two Premier League titles and three FA Cups.
A move to Upton Park followed, but he would stay for just the 2007-08 season, in which he made 28 appearances, in which he scored twice and the Hammers finished 10th.
He went on quite the tour after that, briefly playing for Seattle Sounders, Chicago Fire, Celtic, Shimizu S-Pulse and Mumbai City before finding himself back at the Gunners.
As the above photo attests, he can still pull off a mean Blue Steel as well.

Vincent: Finally the Coach makes the right Team Selection. Drop Luiz, Choose either of Auba or Laca.
Daniel: Also pleased to see Auba in the central position in attack plus Torreira in midfield to help Xhaka. Chambers centre back will be interesting to see as he's usually played out of position at RB.
Jon: Tonight I’m expecting Freddie to be fist pumping and hugging ball boy

Arsenal are looking to avoid a 10th game without a win this evening.
It is 1977 since they went on a barren run as long as that.
Amazingly they went 12 without a win at the start of the 1974-75 season - that was just over three years after they had won the Double.
Funny how quickly fortunes can change.

Freddie Ljungberg had a great passion for Arsenal but some players do not seem that interested in management. I did not see him going into it at all and he was disinterested.
Over the course of stepping away from football, people can tend to re-find their love for the game, which they didn't appreciate when they were playing.
