Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen: "It was a very difficult game. We know how good Wolves are. People talk about the top six but they're very close. They show it in the league every week. They're a very good side.

"It was very difficult playing against one of the quickest guys in the league [Adama Traore]. When he [Jose Mourinho] came in he was very clear that he wanted to be in the top four.

"We were 11 points off when he came in, now we are three away. Things are looking different for us now, we are in the next round of the Champions League too."

  2. 'More obsessed about scoring than defending'published at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2019

    Wolves 1-2 Spurs

    Wolves

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo to BBC Sport: "Of course I'm pleased with the performance. We payed very good. We weren’t perfect, almost. We should have defended better. We played well and created chances. I'm very pleased with the boys.

"Today we did what we wanted – with mistakes in both areas. It was a tough game. Spurs are a very good team. We broke them many times. Let’s work on the final touch to make these chances goals.

"The final moments require a lot of focus. A corner, we must stay in the game until the end. We were more obsessed about scoring than defending.

"Adama Traore is progressing, improving. He’s tried to improve all aspects in his game. He’s still got a long way to go."

DigitalTee: Lucky Mourinho. Molineux is a tough place to come to but that game wasn't managed well. Shouldn't have sat back after the early first goal.

Gazzaniga has been BIG this match.

Kiefer Sutton: United’s inability to break down the 'lower class' teams is what is costing them being right up there. Taking points off top six for fun but absolutely static to breaking down a defensive block.

David: United missed early opportunities cost them this game. Lingard is a bench player. Greenwood deserves a start and finally don’t blame Ole.

What is it about subbing a sub that is so bad? People get really out of shape about it don't they?

That's a magnificent result for Duncan Ferguson. You can see all the directors are sitting with his family and they are all celebrating. That will be a great feeling for him and I think what will impress him most is the desire and the commitment from his team which we have not seen for a while. The desire means so much to the supporters and they played really well.

And speaking of passionate celebrations, that's a big one from Jose Mourinho. Not seen him enjoy a result like that in a good old while.

Spurs have stolen a win and it's a big one in terms of the table.

Aleksandar Todorov: He hasn't had the best start in an Everton shirt and that's putting it lightly but I feel bad and sad for Moise Kean. He doesn't deserve that. You can't fault him for trying.

Joe Gibney: Moises Kean comes on as a sub after 70 minutes. Substituted after 88 minutes, possibly not injured. You mess with Big Dunc at your peril.

That was a strange substitution. Clearly Moise Kean can't have been following the instructions he was given because you can always tell. If it had been tactical, Duncan Ferguson would have had a little word with him but he completely ignored him.

A Christmas horrow show! Dear oh dear oh dear.

Wolves have been battering Spurs all game and then right at the end they neglect to mark Jan Vertonghen and he's totally free to head a Christian Eriksen corner down and into the corner.

    Horrible defending.
