Arsenal manager Freddie Ljungberg speaking to BBC Sport: "We know playing against City we have struggled a lot recently. We tried to keep the ball and be the Arsenal we want to be.

"The problem was the transitions, they scored on the counter, De Bruyne is a fantastic player but when they start like that it's very difficult to get going again and I felt we got low and they got confident.

"I said to the players at half-time it was about pride, 'you need to show some heart out there and show that you're proud.'

"For me I think the last week has been good, we played really good against West Ham, qualified top in Europe. We know from history we struggle against City, they and Liverpool are a little in a league of their own. Against Everton we need to have our chests high."

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno speaking to Sky Sports: "After four or five minutes the game was done. I think in the first half we deserved this result. In the second half we couldn't touch the ball and also couldn't create the chances."

On a gap between Arsenal and the top sides: "At the moment we have to say there is a gap between these teams. We have the quality but when you see the games we miss intensity, we are not fresh in our minds.

"It is good we have a week to work a little bit and speak about this situation, we have to change something in our minds."

On Arsenal's managerial situation: "It's good to know what is in the future or in the next weeks but that is not our job - it is the job of the club. We accept Freddie, he is doing a good job.

"I don't think the manager is the problem, everyone has to look at himself and be honest at himself. If everyone was giving everything today - I think the mentality is the main thing."

Asked about Mesut Ozil, who volleyed his gloves to the ground and appeared unhappy when he was substituted: "I took Mesut off because I wanted some more energy in the team. How he reacts is up to him and we will deal with it later. I'm here on a day-to-day basis but of course we want players in the right way."

On the appointment of a new manager: "I've said to them [the board] they need to make a decision. We are here to help and the staff are trying to chip in but a decision has to be made so we can have the same resources as other clubs. When I say that they that say I have to wait and see."

Arsenal interim manager Freddie Ljungberg, speaking to Sky Sports: "It shows the quality Manchester City have in their side. Kevin de Bruyne showed his quality. We had worked on our structure and we had five against two but they still managed to score.

"They are the champions. I was proud of our boys. When you look at the age of the side that finished it was not an old side.

"I felt we kept the ball OK and played well. But we couldn't get that final spark and when you are 2-0 and 3-0 down early it takes the edge off.

"The players showed spirit but it is hard to play at 3-0 down.

"If you look you see the players and price tags they put in from the bench, we have young kids who we put on. There is a gulf but I am still proud of the boys."

I don't really know what the eyes emoji is meant to imply but I think David de Gea is not too happy with the Everton goal today.

Manchester City's Phil Foden on BBC 5 Live: "It's my first Premier League start today and I was happy to be on the pitch. I am happy with the assist. When you play with great players it makes your life easy. It's a pleasure to play withKevin de Bruyne, he is one of our biggest players. I feel lucky to learn off him. We know we need to play well and get three points every game to be in with a chance."

On being substituted off: "I am disappointed to not play longer but I have not played two games in a row for a while so I think the manager saw my tired legs."

On Phil Foden: "Played so good, as we knew it, as normal, he played in a position he was not used to but playing away at a big club, always he does every action with a good rhythm."

On looking frustrated on the touchline: "It's not frustrating, we play fantastic. We spoke about spaces and didn't find them so well. We talked about that and we played better when Bernardo [Silva] came in.

"We lose games this season and last season only a few, we sometimes play much better than today and we lost, football is sometimes about duty to analyse game not just result."

On assistant coach Mikel Arteta's influence amid reported interest from other clubs: "A lot. he is part of the huge success we had. An important part. What will happen will happen. I think he is part of our staff so what is going to happen I don't know.

"At the end it's personal, if he wants a job we are open to talk. I don't want to make him uncomfortable."

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking to BBC Sport: "We made an incredible result but the way we played against Manchester United [a game they lost 2-1 last weekend] was better in many, many things. I know we are judged on the result but I have a duty to judge the performance, not just the result."

That Liverpool lead is obscene. City doing all they can to stay in touch.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne speaking to Sky Sports: "I tried to keep composed and not lean too much backwards. It was just low enough to put it under the bar [the first goal.]

"The second goal is a little similar, the keeper doesn't really see the ball and it gives him less reaction time."

On not getting a hat-trick: "It would have been nice but to score two goals and come away with a good win with the struggles we had a little bit is nice.

"I think every time you lose a game the only reaction you can show is to win the next one. Every time we lose points we come back with a good reaction. We know we have not been at our best this year but we keep on fighting and there's still a lot of games to play for us."

City were ruthless early on. Kevin de Bruyne's goals were works of art. We know that when they're on form City are incredible. It was so easy though, they were not pushed at all.

It was embarrassing. Arsenal made it too easy. Was there passion from Arsenal? Probably but they just are not that good. How low is Freddie's bar? That's why they have to get someone in who has some credibility.
