Tom McQuillin: This Spurs team is full of talent but it has some real poor-quality players that make it impossible for them to dominate as a team. Dier, Sanchez, Aurier are all not good enough.

Wow Spurs are average at best. Mourinho won't be the saviour. Mid-table beckons.

There are lots of hands going up from Spurs players who do not know what they are supposed to be doing or who they are meant to be marking. The Lampard plan is working very well. Spurs cannot get any real foothold in the game, Chelsea look dangerous every time they get the ball. Spurs the polar opposite.

    Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea

A Tottenham attack breaks down and Chelsea counter quickly through Mason Mount. He finds Tammy Abraham, who puts his foot on the ball before playing a delightful cross to find Mount, who continues his run into the box, but the midfielder's first touch gives the Spurs defence just enough time to get a block in.

  5. Postpublished at 23 mins

    Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea

Tottenham just cannot get a hold of the ball in midfield as Chelsea look to work it forward once again.

Not seen Frank Lampard as animated as this as Chelsea manager - thumping his first into his palm furiously and constantly cajoling his players from the techincal area.

Working so far as Chelsea are in control. Spurs and their fans frustrated.

Luke: Mourinho's second real test as Spurs manager. He lost the first and limped timidly through the other games. Lose today and the Mourinho factor is gone and we will see his United form from now on.

Tkolarinwa: Tottenham playing with a certain level of arrogance. No panicking or sense of urgency, yet. Not sure if it's a good thing or not with Mourinho now at the helm.

Dele Alle wins a free kick deep inside the Tottenham half but Spurs are once again wasteful with possession and lose the ball in midfield. Chelsea are winning that battle in the middle of the park at the moment.

Sam Hartles: Dele Alli ducked out of the way of that shot! He should be fined a weeks wages for that. Unforgivable.

Chris Agada: Keep underrating Willian what a strike!

  12. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea

Jose Mourinho is looking a little bemused and with good reason. Tottenham haven't got going yet. Toby Alderweireld holds the ball deep inside his own half. He gets frustrated at the lack of options and goes long, trying to find Son Heung-min but the Chelsea defence has it covered.

  13. 'Spurs defending was schoolboy like'published at 16:47 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2019

    Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea

    Jermaine Jenas
Ex-Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

You have to applaud that strike from Willian, he has been doing it all his career at Chelsea. It's a brilliant finish. From a Spurs point of view, it was schoolboy like. That's the only way I can explain the defending. What Serge Aurier was doing with the header initially to give away a corner and then they were slow to get out to Willian. Makes no sense. He is lethal in those positions.

  14. Postpublished at 13 mins

Chelsea win another corner off Serge Aurier, who is having a tough start. Willian opts to swing this one in and Tottenham clear.

Chelsea have been much the better side in this opening phase. Spurs have been sluggish and they were fast asleep at that short corner.

And how Willian made them pay.

    Willian

    You don't stop those!

Willian plays a short corner, gets the ball back and then does Serge Aurier with a neat step over to open up a pocket of space just inside the box and the Chelsea forward then arrows one into the far corner.

That's stunned the stadium into momentary silence.

Antonio Rudiger hits a wildly speculative effort from 30 yards well over the bar. Still, Chelsea have slightly had the better of the opening exchanges.

  18. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea

First corner of the game goes Chelsea's way. Willian's delivery is flicked on by Cesar Azpilicueta but Tottenham clear.

One word to sum up these first few minutes - cagey.

  19. Master and pupil on the linepublished at 16:37 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2019

    Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Frank Lampard, making an impression in his own right as Chelsea manager, needs to arrest a recent slide and is in close proximity to the man under whom he enjoyed so much success at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho has already had his impact at Spurs and has brought a renewed sense of optimism.

It is a battle of wits between master and pupil inside a packed and noisy Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

And it all started with a minute's applause for England World Cup winner and former Spurs captain Martin Peters, who passed away on Saturday.

  20. 'Both teams are sizing each other up'published at 16:37 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2019

    Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea

    Jermaine Jenas
Ex-Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's been an even game in the opening minutes as both teams size each other up. Chelsea have just started a little bit better but Tottenham's defence are so tight they are unable to make anything of their chances at the minute.
