    Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd

Mesut Ozil finds Bukayo Saka, and United's defenders back off, back off, back off. Suddenly Saka is 20 yards out but his weak shot is saved.

  2. Postpublished at 78 mins

    Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd

A rare Arsenal attack. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finds Alexander Lacazette, who shoots well over from 20 yards. Auba had actually been looking for the return ball.

  3. Postpublished at 76 mins

    Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira - who was born in the Uruguayan town of Fray Bentos - is down getting treatment at the moment. A chance to eat up another minute or so for the Gunners.

Joe Wedgwood: United crying out for midfielder with guile and creativity. Surprised Mata doesn't see more game time. Not sure Sancho is needed either. A David Silva-type is more essential!

Paul Lummis: Well, MUFC sure are playing this game with all the poise and creativity that you'd expect of a team that has Matic, Fred and Lingard running the centre of the park for most of the game.

Saroj Gurung: Shaw and Lingard can't defend, attack or score goals. Welcome to United's first team every week!

Much like that TV show, the corner is awful.

Fred and Harry, the kind of character names you'd see on Call the Midwife.

Corner to United, Harry Maguire goes forward for it. Fred to take.

    Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd

If United were to score, it would make the final 18 minutes very interesting. They'd been the better side in this half for sure.

Mason Greenwood blasts in a shot from 16 yards, from Anthony Martial's flick, but Bernd Leno saves.

Well done the referee. That was exactly right. Definitely not a penalty kick in my eyes.

I suspect Aaron Wan-Bissaka was looking for the penalty there, although I think there was contact.

Now he runs a ball straight out of play.

  11. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 71 mins

    Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd

United want a penalty as Aaron Wan-Bissaka goes past Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and goes to the turf.

Referee says no. VAR says no.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 69 mins

    Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd

In fact Sead Kolasinac is replaced by Bukayo Saka. Saka can play anywhere down the left, like a modern-day Kevin Kilbane.

  13. Postpublished at 21:25 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd

Arsenal left-back Sead Kolasinac is down holding his foot. He's missed the last couple of weeks with an ankle injury.

Josh Hammond: I wouldn't mind losing against teams like Arsenal as much if the squad had actually put a shift in but this is just shocking. Seems like there's no passion or creativity or need in the players on the pitch.

James Cameron: Lost count of the number of times Fred has fouled Lacazette. Wonder how times it'll be before the ref books him?

Aleksandar Todorov: Andreas Pereira has a shot at goal within a minute. And Jesse Lingard started over him because?

  17. Postpublished at 64 mins

    Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd

Great footwork from Anthony Martial as he dances between three or four Arsenal defenders - they eventually work the ball back to Marcus Rashford, who shoots over.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 63 mins

    Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd

A good ovation for Nicolas Pepe as he's replaced by youngster Reiss Nelson. Bit surprised to see Pepe taken off, but he has been quiet in the second half.

  19. 'Greenwood should have been on earlier'published at 21:18 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

Mason Greenwood should have come on a lot earlier, and possibly at half-time. It surprised me Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn't make the change earlier. It's probably a little late to chase the win for Manchester United but they might be able to get something still.

A good Arsenal counter and one man who will find the right pass is Mesut Ozil. He finds Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but his cross can't find Alexandre Lacazette.
