Just one goalless draw for West Ham in their last 52 games, surely we will see goals in this half?

Hammers look a completely different unit under Moyes and haven't conceded a goal yet. What really bemuses me is the majority of fans moaned his reappointment despite being EPL manager of the year twice . What more are West Ham fans expecting?

  3. 'West Ham better side'published at 21:02 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January 2020

Former Aston Villa midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

David Moyes has got his formation right and will be over the moon with the first-half display. He must've been expecting goals in this fixture but he's certainly sussed them out and done his homework. He's stopped the wide areas where Sheffield United are key and been expansive this season and to be honest, they've probably been the better side. They have gone about their business, worked hard and that's certainly what you expect from David Moyes and that's what he brings to the football club.

  4. Fernandes to Man Utd?published at 21:01 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January 2020

So little happened in that first half that Simon Stone even managed to take time out from the game to provide an update on Bruno Fernandes' potential move to Manchester United.

Three of the nine Premier League games this season to see no shots on target during the opening 45 minutes have involved Sheffield United (against West Ham (tonight), Aston Villa (December) and Man City (December)).

Tactically, pretty spot on by David Moyes. West Ham have matched-up Sheffield United, denied them opportunities and effort-wise, it's been there from the players. So, David Moyes will be walking in the dressing room very happy.

ToffeeMan: Pretty dire stuff being put on by these two teams.

Would love to see an alternative timeline of the Premier League had West Ham not let Adrian go to Liverpool...

Sebastien Haller holds the ball up well as he waits for reinforcements before Arthur Masuaku wins a second corner of the game for the Hammers. Manuel Lanzini sends the ball into the box but it is an easy catch for Dean Henderson.

Aaron Cresswell knocks the ball into the box looking for Sebastien Haller but Dean Henderson is alert to the danger and gets off his line quickly to gather ahead of the West Ham striker.

Good play by Sheffield United. They got a bit of space on the left wing and clever turn by Lundstram butiIt was just a little bit too far for everyone in the box. and McBurnie made it look a bit better than it actually was so I don't think any of the West Ham defence were troubled by that chance.

So Sheffield United were only going to have a one season holiday in the top flight. It's great to see what a gifted positive manager can do with like minded players

Oli McBurnie just fails to meet John Lundstram's ball towards the far post. That's an opportunity that sums up the first half - a few promising chances just not quite coming off.

The final ball by West Ham is looking for Sebastien Haller but with three centre halves around him and being the only one in the box, it needs an eye of the needle pass. It's so hard around there.

Sheffield United win their fourth corner of the game but again they fail to make it count as John Lundstram heads wide.

It feels like a set piece is going to be the best chance for a goal with both sides doing well to limit chances from open play.

A couple of times now Pablo Zabaleta has shown his experience, being in and around the game, reading the passes and just being where the ball is going to go next. He's also arriving at the right time to pick the ball up and clear the danger.

West Ham break after a Sheffield United attack is snuffed out but the home side swarm back quickly to cut off the passing lanes. Hugely impressive organisation from the Blades.

David McGoldrick can't get any direction on his header as he leaps to meet an inviting George Baldock. The Blades pick up the loose ball and keep up the pressure.

Just a big, long ball forward by David Martin and not cleared, not defended well by Sheffield United and Felipe Anderson has done everything he should do: struck it across goal, struck it well enough but a yard wide. In a game like this those chances could make the difference.
