Abdhakeem Olayiwola: It is too early to judge Arteta... OGS had a better start.. however his recent statistics have been very poor.

Charles Meyrick: The only way Arsenal could ever hold a lead is if we scored after the final whistle.

Karaoke Tony: Really don't know what the Palace fans are complaining about. Their players going down so easily, conning the referee constantly plus the number of late tackles Ayew has made. Poor.

Timely reminder of that half-time stat...

Arsenal have failed to win either of their two Premier League London derbies this season when leading at half-time - drawing against Palace in October and losing against Chelsea in December.

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Arsenal

    Steven Reid
Former Blackburn midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

It's a scrappy little goal. But just the feel of this second half has been a lot better from Palace. The fans are up for it, they are getting behind them. I can't call a winner at the minute.

    Palace are back!

Arsenal fail to deal with a free-kick and are punished as the busy Cheikhou Kouyate finds Jordan Ayew whose shot deflects off David Luiz and balloons over Bernd Leno into the net.

The temperature has turned up a notch in this London derby.

It looked like Lucas Torreira landed awkwardly on his back. He was doing a decent job in there alongside Granit Xhaka. I think it will just be a like-for-like swap.

Both teams are the same shape. for me, the next 10 minutes will probably be the time that Roy will start to think about making a change to try to get Palace back into it.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 52 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Arsenal

Ainsley Maitland-Niles crashes into Cheikhou Kouyate and Palace have a free-kick in a decent position while the Arsenal player receives a yellow card.

It comes to nothing but Palace are showing signs they have been on the receiving end of a Roy Hodgson rollicking.

  12. 'All still to play for'published at 13:38 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2020

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Arsenal

    Steven Reid
Former Blackburn midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

The longer the game goes on I think Palace will press a little bit higher to try to get that equaliser. With the fans behind them they are still in this game.

Arsenal have dominated possession without creating many clear-cut chances so all still to play for.

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Arsenal

Palace really need to show some bite in front of goal. Only Watford have scored fewer goals in the Premier League this season. Bernd Leno has only had one save to make this game.

Crystal Palace really came back into this one in the last 15 minutes of the first half.

There were encouraging signs in the latter stages of the half. They are not out of this just yet.

Richard Omache: Arteta seems to know what was ailing these players, they are playing like he signed a full new team.

Shanu Afolami: This is a fantastic game of football right here. Wonderful half. More of that please in the second half.

Aled Northcott: As a neutral this is not an enjoyable game to watch. So scrappy and stop start with one shot every 15 minutes.

  18. 'Spurs need Plan B without Kane'published at 13:29 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2020

    Tottenham v Liverpool (17:30 GMT)

    Alex Scott
Ex-England international on BBC Football Focus

We have the same conversation about Harry Kane every year. He gets overused. He doesn’t get rested because Spurs don’t have anyone else.

They are going to need a Plan B. When you look at last season when he was out, that’s when Son Heung-min came to life.

The bottom line is if you are willing to give blood sweat and tears, in other words work hard, you will stand out at Manchester United at the moment.

  20. 'Wolves have such a small squad'published at 13:25 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2020

    Wolves v Newcastle (15:00 GMT)

Former Wolves striker Steve Bull on BBC Football Focus: “I think Wolves have been a bit unlucky. They've played some very good football, but it’s just not happening at the moment.

“They’ve got such a small squad. I could tell last week when we played Watford that the tired legs were coming in.

“We need a backbone – I think any team would say that. Down the middle, we need replacements in defence, midfield and attack.”
