Liverpool are starting to apply more pressure and are moving the ball from side to side. Gaps are starting to open up and balls are being fired into the Tottenham box.

Their wingers and full-backs are pushing very high. Even when Spurs win the ball back it's very difficult for them to threaten Alisson in the Liverpool goal.

Tottenham have every single player back in their half now and there's just no out ball when the ball is cleared up the pitch. They surely can't keep this up for long?

Now Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain breezes past Danny Rose but his low ball into the box is cut out. Tottenham are very deep, though, and the ball just come backs towards their defence.

Now it is Davinson Sanchez's turn to make an important clearing header, this time from a whipped Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ball into the box. Liverpool are just starting to push the hosts back and take control of this game.

What a pass again from Alderweireld to find Alli running between the lines. The first touch was good, but it was the same as Declan Rice’s handball last night.

I think the referee would have gone back to it had Alli scored there. It would have been disallowed.

Toby Alderweireld heads the ball away as Trent Alexander-Arnold swings another ball towards the far post, this time trying to pick out Sadio Mane's run.

Dele Alli does superbly well to bring a long ball down the middle under control. He tussles with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez but still manages to retain control of the ball before lashing over.

Christian Eriksen gives the ball away cheaply, prompting a few groans from the home fans.

The midfielder has been linked with a move away this window and he is certainly playing like a player who sees his future elsewhere.

It’s good intensity from Tottenham Hotspur so far. Whether they can sustain it against this Liverpool side remains to be seen.

Klopp’s team bring a bit of everything to the table. They’re special.

At the other end, Lucas Moura cuts in from the left but drives his effort wide of the post. Decent, open start to the game.

What an opening two minutes we’ve had. Like any Klopp team, Liverpool spring forward on the counter-attack and almost take the lead.

The rebound comes back off the post and somehow Spurs haven't conceded.

It’s a real test for young Japhet Tanganga. Having come through the youth ranks he’s had to be patient for his chance. He played in the pre-season games and against Colchester in the League Cup.

There’s no bigger stage than the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Liverpool’s forward line.

It was a classic Liverpool attack with Firmino picked outside the box, he turned inside his marker before seeing his goal-bound effort cleared by Tanganga's body before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain smacked the follow up against the post.

First corner of the game goes Tottenham's way as the hosts get in their opponents faces early. Christian Eriksen fires the ball into the box but Joe Gomez heads away.

Liverpool get the action under way!
