Philip Backhouse: Now for 56 mins of Spurs getting passed to death.

Chris Baldwin: As good as Liverpool are, this is like watching Spurs in the late 90s and it has been for the last year. Pochettino wasn’t the problem, this team were done a long time ago. Four or five minimum need replacing.

Oli: This LFC team is ridiculously good. I can see them going unbeaten this season.

Spurs have been happy to drop back into their own half and it was almost inevitable they would be punished. This needs a change in approach from Jose Mourinho otherwise this is going to be a long night for him and his team.

  3. Records are there to be broken...or equalledpublished at 18:14 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2020

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

This is Liverpool's joint-best scoring run from the start of a season in English top-flight history (also scoring in their opening 21 games in 1933-34).

Paulo Gazzaniga looks frustrated as he thinks about hitting the ball up the pitch but there's simply no Tottenham players in Liverpool's half. The Reds, meanwhile, are pressing really high.

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

The tempo has dropped since the goal, which I’m not surprised by.

Liverpool are so confident in their defensive resilience – they’re just resting with the ball. Spurs have dropped back too. We’re just watching a bit of a stand-off at the moment.

Do my eyes deceive me - another tactical foul from Liverpool to break up a counter attack? I thought City were the only ones who did that!

    Daniel

Tactical foul there by Van Dijk! Will it get mentioned? No, he doesn't play for City!

    Dave, Timperley

Daniel, meet Dave. Clearly great minds think alike

The Supreme Meme QC: Spurs' defending has been extremely poor all game. They deserve that...

Ash Williams: Even Mourinho’s busses leave gaps!

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 38 mins

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Lucas Moura is caught late by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and the Liverpool midfielder is shown a yellow card.

Moura is trying hard but Tottenham are definitely missing the presence of Harry Kane in attack.

The pressure was certainly building. Firmino just drops his shoulder and draws the challenge.

It’s a clinical finish beyond Gazzaniga to give Liverpool the lead.

    Roberto Firmino

Actually, I think Jurgen Klopp will be the happier of the two managers now...

Mo Salah manages to squeeze the ball out to Roberto Firmino on the far side of the box and the Brazilian rifles in.

Oh hang on, VAR is checking for a handball somewhere...

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Just over 10 minutes to go until half time and Jose Mourinho will surely be the happier of the two managers so far.

  14. Spurs 'just can't find that final pass'published at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2020

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

    Bradley Allen
Tottenham Hotspur academy coach on BBC Radio London

Spurs have had chances but they just can’t find that final pass.

Their first ball has been really good but it’s the next one through the Liverpool lines that they can’t seem to find. If they can sort that out they can definitely get something later on in this game.

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 31 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool are starting to look a bit rattled that their dominance hasn't been rewarded with a goal and Sadio Mane is booked as he takes down Japhet Tanganga.

I thought Liverpool had been dominant but I didn't realise just how much more possession they have had then Tottenham.

A hairy moment for the Liverpool defence, though, as Lucas Moura threatens to get away. He is held off by Virgil van Dijk, but did the Dutch defender pull him back? Replays suggest he may have done but the referee saw nothing in it.

  17. 'Constantly on the edge'published at 17:57 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2020

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

    Bradley Allen
Tottenham Hotspur academy coach on BBC Radio London

Spurs rode their luck again. It was a great close-range save from Gazzaniga and Spurs managed to break clear.

This game is constantly on the edge!

  18. Liverpool taking controlpublished at 17:57 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2020

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Liverpool dominating possession and in control. It was a brilliant save by Gazzaniga to stop Van Dijk as the threat grows.

Spurs have had the chance to break on them as Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has twice coughed up possession in uncharacteristic fashion but they have not capitalised.

  19. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Son Heung-min gets beyond Trent Alexander-Arnold a little too easily on the flank but the Liverpool full-back recovers well to knock the ball behind for a Spurs throw. Christian Eriksen is then beaten to the ball very easily by Sadio Mane and the Tottenham opportunity is gone.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 24 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Joe Gomez is then cautioned for a foul to halt a quick Tottenham break. Very much taking one for the team there.
