Big breaking team news from the early game for anyone (ahem) who has Aaron Ramsdale in their fantasy football team.

The Bournemouth goalkeeper is not in the Cherries squad. Mark Travers makes his first league start of the season.

When you are in the relegation battle, you have to beat the teams around you and Bournemouth have some big games coming up. They are in big trouble Bournemouth, they are in free-fall. The run is one of Eddie Howe’s worst he has been on in the Premier League. If you had said that at the start of the season after the start they made, you would not have thought they would be in the relegation battle.

With the three teams in the bottom seven who were in action yesterday - Brighton, Burnley and Norwich - all having lost, there is an enormous incentive if either side can take advantage this afternoon.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe said on Friday: "This is a massive game - the players know that, the crowd know how much we're going to need them this weekend to create an atmosphere. We've got a key run coming up against teams around us. We need points, and we need points quickly.

"We need to create that feeling that we're invincible here. Teams used to really fear coming here, a small ground with a really good atmosphere. We need that feeling back, which only we can create as a team. We have to show how much this game means to us."

He adds in his programme notes today: "Today marks the start of a season-defining period for us."

    • Bournemouth have earned just four points from 10 Premier League games since beating Manchester United on 2 November, fewer than any other team.

For three or four seasons now Bournemouth have been a fine example of a stable mid-table Premier League side.

However, their wretched recent league form means there is real danger of a return to the Championship on the south coast if things don't turn around quickly.

Eddie Howe's side have only won one of their past 10 league matches. That was an away win at Chelsea in December. Since then, they've lost to Burnley, Brighton and West Ham.

The Cherries did get a morale-boosting 4-0 win over Luton in the FA Cup last week.

Which person has transformed your club?published at 12:43 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2020

It's fair to say both of the managers of today's early game have transformed their clubs - Eddie Howe for bringing Bournemouth up from the Football League and Nigel Pearson for his short-term boost this season at Watford.

    That has got us thinking.

We want to know the one person/manager/owner who has transformed your club?

It can be any club at any level, whether that's Premier League or Sunday League.

A colleague has just been telling me about when their Sunday league team was bought by a local lottery winner and then went on to buy players from other amateur teams and charge up the leagues.

It has taken 34 minutes for the first bust-up of the South Wales derby.

It has been lively. Swansea have hit the post but it's still 0-0.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe says he will make last-minute decisions on the fitness of a host of players.

However, David Brooks, Charlie Daniels, Joshua King and Jack Stacey will definitely not feature.

Watford have Roberto Pereyra available after his red card against Tranmere was rescinded, while Nathaniel Chalobah and Craig Cathcart have been passed fit.

However, Tom Cleverley, Kiko Femenia, Will Hughes, Daryl Janmaat, Sebastian Prodl and Danny Welbeck are all out.

I don't care if it's January. I don't care if there are still 16 games to go after this one. The match today between Watford and Bournemouth is the classic six pointer.

Whoever wins will be out of the relegation zone for a while at least. Whoever loses will be 19th.

    Tense.

    Hello. Good afternoon.

There has been plenty to get your teeth into already during this Premier League weekend and today we have two more games to come.

First up is a humongous game at the bottom with 18th-placed Bournemouth hosting 19th-placed Watford.

Later, starting at 16:30 GMT, another of the teams at the bottom, Aston Villa, have the difficult test of a home game against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

Grab a drink, the last of the left-over Christmas chocolates and don't go anywhere.
