Manchester City have hardly put a foot wrong so far this game. Aston Villa are looking a little bit more organised now which Dean Smith has to be pleased with. After Manchester City got the first goal, you knew they would step it up and boy they did and just shocked Villa.

I'd say Villa goalkeeper Orjan Nyland could have done better with the first and third goals.

City now have a chance to test him with a free-kick from 25 yards out. David Silva is eyeing it up.

Aston Villa new-boy Pepe Reina is watching this from the stands.

Reina has joined Villa on loan from AC Milan. I think it is fair to assume he will be starting at Brighton next Saturday.

There was an obligatory VAR check before Manchester City could celebrate their goal.

Both sets of fans sang their opposition to it afterwards - the City supporters following up with 'It's not football any more'.

It will be interesting to see whether this fan reaction has any influence at the IFAB meeting in Belfast on 29 February when rule changes will be discussed.

From a Manchester City point of view that's a really good goal but Aston Villa really have shot themselves in the foot. That's two occasions where Aston Villa have had possession in the area and they have not cleared and Manchester City have pounced. Aston Villa cannot give the ball away and not be punished.
