David de Gea - the ringleader of the aggressive United protests to referee Craig Pawson - was booked for his rage before the goal was ruled out.

Ridiculous considering the technology was always going to look at it and he got what he wanted in the end.

VAR steps in and rules the goal out. De Gea went up with VVD and whether you believe keepers are protected too much or not, those are usually given as a foul, which is where we get to with the technology.

Liverpool have scored in their first 22 league games in a top-flight season for the first time in their history.

Van Dijk is nearly on the end of another delivery. He is stretching his boot out at the back post to try and meet a free-kick, but instead diverts it onto Maguire and then behind.

The corner is much better dealt with by United than the one of few minutes ago.

It's an absolutely brilliant header from such a big player. I think they went zonal United to try to get a block on Van Djik but he rises and powers the header into the top corner. What a start that is.

Manchester United's understandable ploy was to be patient to try and take the heat out of Liverpool and their supporters - and it had worked well until Van Dijk's goal.

Brilliant header but it was all too easy for Van Dijk to rise and head home that corner and Manchester United might just be getting that sinking feeling so many teams have had against Liverpool this season.

Liverpool have constructed some superb goals this season, but that was straightforward personified.

A good delivery, a good run and leap and a good header.
