A lot of United players with their hands all over the referee. You just can't do that. They are furious about the decision.
Liverpool 1-0 Man Utd
David de Gea - the ringleader of the aggressive United protests to referee Craig Pawson - was booked for his rage before the goal was ruled out.
Ridiculous considering the technology was always going to look at it and he got what he wanted in the end.
Liverpool 1-0 Man Utd
VAR steps in and rules the goal out. De Gea went up with VVD and whether you believe keepers are protected too much or not, those are usually given as a foul, which is where we get to with the technology.
However, the reaction from the Man Utd players was way over the top. Hence...
Roberto Firmino
This is a stunning finish!
Good chance it won't stand, though, as David de Gea thinks he has been clattered by Van Dijk before Firmino curled in his shot.
Liverpool 1-0 Man Utd
Robertson's delivery is really poor so Man Utd survive this moment of danger. They're soon on the back foot again, though, as Liverpool win possession and start pressing.

United are having to dig in now just to keep the home side at bay. Wan-Bissaka slides in to concede a corner. Here's a tip for the visitors - watch VVD.

Liverpool 1-0 Man Utd
Liverpool have scored in their first 22 league games in a top-flight season for the first time in their history.

Van Dijk is nearly on the end of another delivery. He is stretching his boot out at the back post to try and meet a free-kick, but instead diverts it onto Maguire and then behind.
The corner is much better dealt with by United than the one of few minutes ago.

It's an absolutely brilliant header from such a big player. I think they went zonal United to try to get a block on Van Djik but he rises and powers the header into the top corner. What a start that is.
Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Anfield
Manchester United's understandable ploy was to be patient to try and take the heat out of Liverpool and their supporters - and it had worked well until Van Dijk's goal.
Brilliant header but it was all too easy for Van Dijk to rise and head home that corner and Manchester United might just be getting that sinking feeling so many teams have had against Liverpool this season.
Liverpool 1-0 Man Utd
Liverpool have constructed some superb goals this season, but that was straightforward personified.
A good delivery, a good run and leap and a good header.
Virgil van Dijk
Boom!
As simple as you like. Virgil van Dijk timed his run to meet an outswinging corner from Trent Alexander-Arnold and hammer a header into the net. David de Gea had no chance.
Liverpool are on their way. Again.

The United strikers are playing as split strikers, neither of them a conventional number nine. Clearly part of the United game-plan.
