Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to the BBC Match of the Day: "I enjoyed the game a lot. I would have preferred we're 2, 3, 4 -0 up after 60 minutes - good for nerves.
"We played sensational football. We could have scored more. Peter Krawietz and analysts making proposals for set-pieces.
"We could have scored more and maybe should have scored more. Then United came back at the end of the first half. In the second half we created chances and played super football. But we're not in business since yesterday - we know they would come back and they did.
"We scored the second goal and that was a big relief.
"From now on we have to get into the three-day rhythm. There's tough period coming up."
I understand sometimes concentration level drop. In the past i would have gone crazy, but now I'm calm.
"I like the football we play and the atmosphere. Altogether it's pretty good.
Do the players surprise you with the level they maintain? "To be honest, not really. We had exceptional sessions against the kids - 11 v 11. The boys go like crazy. I don't take it for granted but I see them during the week so I'm not surprised."

More from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports: "What a performance against an opponent with the quality of United, and the set up of United. Ole will say the same, they wanted to annoy us, distract our game, defend and counter attack. They had moments when they played football but not too often, the other moments it was difficult to create chances, but the manner we created chances was exceptional."
On the Liverpool fans singing 'we're gonna win the league': "They can sing that, they have sung that a couple of times in the past I think. l have no problem with that. Everyone should celebrate the situation, apart from us. Nothing has changed, we have the same situation plus three points. I will tell you immediately the moment if it feels different, at the moment it doesn't.
"I have no idea whether we will be caught or not, I don't care. First and foremost it's the Premier League. We play Wolves on Thursday, it's our next exceptional challenge. I don't have enough space in my brain to contemplate anything else."

Qaaltagh: Solskjaer utterly deluded. Seemingly like a lot of Utd fans. Liverpool had two arguably acceptable goals disallowed. Battered United for the full 90 minutes and it could and probably should've been a much, much bigger defecit. Scoreline absolutely flatters United.
Simon Brunner: If Liverpool played their game in hand now and won it, they’d have 67 points to United’s 34. Almost double. Let me write that again. Double. If they don’t win the league, it would be a travesty. From a United fan.
Ash Williams: Liverpool will have this title wrapped up by 30 games are done and 8 left in the season.

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane, speaking on Sky Sports: "Anthony Martial has come to Manchester United and the big strikers score in the big moments, but his miss sums up is career at the club - excellent build-up play, but you have to hit the target. No excuses.
"The big strikers who are remembered by the supporters hit the target and the back of the net, and that’s why that guy (Martial) is not quite good enough for Manchester United. That moment summed him up."

Utterly appalling that a young player like Rashford has been playing with such an injury. Football really has to step up and start protecting players. Too many play with injuries and too many come back too soon from injuries.

David Watson: With Liverpool's win, it's now mathematically impossible for Norwich to win the league, bad day for Chris Sutton.

When asked about potentially replacing Marcus Rashford this transfer window, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replied:
“We've had many injuries for big players this season. It’s just an unfortunate situation we're in. We might look at some short term deals as well that could take us through to the summer. We don’t desperately need a striker, if the right one is there and it fits for us... we’ve got players who are champing at the bit.”

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed to Sky that Marcus Rashford has suffered a stress fracture to his back, which means it is likely to be at least six weeks before he even starts rehab. A mighty big blow.
"He’s suffered a bad injury," said Solskjaer. "Yeah it’s a [back] stress fracture, it happened against Wolves. It’s not happened before, it happened there and then. He’ll be out for a while. He won’t be back until after the mid-season break. Normally six weeks to heal, but I’m not a doctor, and then he needs rehab after that probably."

Manchester United
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaking to Match of the Day: "The players gave us everything. Today we hung on a bit at the start of second half, but the last 25-30 mins we pressed them and pushed them back. I'm disappointed with conceding from a corner and with the last kick - but very many positives.
"I felt in the second half we performed really well against a good team and at a difficult place.
"We didn't have quality with our finishing or last pass. Fred was absolutely top and David de Gea. As a team we worked together as a unit.
On Marcus Rashford's back injury: "Rashford will be out for a while. He got a new injury against Wolves. We'll not see him for a little while.
"We're always looking at chances to improve the squad - with Marcus out for a while we have to look at it closely."

Chris Sutton talks such utter drivel, which I guess is part of the reason he is a pundit. Utd were second best today but we were not at full strength and were weakened by several significant injuries. That said they still had some great chances to draw level. Liverpool are good, but (with a few additions) this young Utd team will certainly complete next year. Liverpool are already looking tired and are not bringing in fresh talent. Top 4 at best next season.

Re: Sutton comment 18.35. Talk about Captain Obvious comment! Yes, Utd are the 2nd best in Manchester, and Liverpool will win the league by a mile (although I think they played better last year myself). Utd are 5-6 years away from challenging - but like Liverpool 5-6 years ago. But they stuck in there, showed character, and these youngsters will only learn from this. Real United fans are realistic, we know where we are, but are on the journey with Ole.

Liverpool 2-0 Man Utd
Liverpool
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to Sky Sports: "It's a big relief, I was really happy with 85-90% of the game, we were brilliant. We dominated the game, especially in the first half. The energy they put on the pitch was incredible.
"On a normal day we would have scored three times in the first half and in the second half until 65 minutes we should have been more clear.
"But then United have obvious quality, played a bit more football and we had to defend. There we little mistakes here and there, we didn't use possession well enough and so the game stays open.
"Then we scored a wonderful, wonderful goal at the end, a really good feeling."

The difference between the two sides is that Liverpool are living in the present. They are living in this moment. They are a team who are improving all the time and the club is improving all the time - on and off the field. United have hit the wall, they are treading water under Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer, that's just the way it is. They are living in the past. They are are bang average team and will not be able to touch Liverpool in the next couple of seasons.

Mark Thompson: The Premier League teams should just rest players against Liverpool, just play wide open and try to expand the game as much as possible. Nothing to lose really. Then next season have a real go again when there is an actual title race. Tell me I'm wrong.
Dr David: Chris Sutton - the master of hyperbole at it again. Miles apart? If that you meaning the only team who has been competitive against Liverpool over 180mins then sure.
Bob Moss: The other top teams in the Premier League should be embarrassed by how far Liverpool are ahead.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports: "Everyone in the country is going to think that's the Premier League won.
"This is a phenomenal team. They are the best in the league, the best in Europe and the best in the world at the moment."

Liverpool need 16 points from the remaining 45 to guarantee a CL spot...
Jamey, Northallerton
Considering the team we had out this afternoon I'm proud of our performance. We showed that Liverpool are not the 8th wonder of the world. With the continuing development of our young players, and with one or two additions, I'm confident in saying we will win more Premier League titles than Liverpool, over the next 7 years.
